Think back - - - - How many times did you go to the fence at Vortex before you became cave certified??????

Doesn't matter how many time I did, fact is I GOT trained. I can sit her and say what I did because I know what can happen, how fast it can happen and what to do about it when it does happen. I will openly admit I did some dumb things, but I took action to correct my lack of knowledge and some 250 overhead dives later I am still working on those skills. A small thing like a blown Oring down at the gate on an AL80 with an OW diver would turn into a bad deal. That false sense of security that gets passed around vortex about that cave needs to stop.

So then --- this beating of a horse so dead that he stinks to high heaven... Someone who does the same thing that you did is a dumbass and you're not??? I watch it happen often. That siren that calls to the wayward diver "Come on in!! Come on in!" I've seen new divers sweating in 68 degree water cause they want to go in there so bad... And there ain't nothing to see but a bunch of rocks but the feel of testosterone is so overwhelming.

But instead of riding the high horse. Look at those who want to do the same thing you did and instead of calling them a dumbass take them by the hand and lead them into what is right. Like some folks did for you........ Or have you forgotten??? My Mama says "No matter how good you think you are today, don't go above your raising." My Mama is a smart woman.

Just because some of us have made a mistake doesn't make it any smarter.

To answer your question, yes I was being a dumbass when i did it.

But - Do you just talk about it or do you extend your hand to help someone else not make that same mistake??? Or do you look down your nose at them and continue to beat the horse??

I have spoken with several divers at popular sites about where to get more training.

I won't ignore blatant safety violations to give anyone warm and fuzzies and pretend like every way to do something is acceptable, either.

After reading through all of the posts on this subject, it is obvious that the issue at hand here is the failure of this diver to to get proper training and to follow the five basic rules of cave diving. I am hoping to complete my full cave class this winter. During the classes that I have taken to this point and a majority of the practice sessions that I have done since then is line handling. After watching a number of videos that had links in this particular forum, I noticed that there seemed to be a missing element. That being a continuos line. I may have just missed it, but in the video of the extreme side mount diving taken at Rock Bluff posted by Cavediver, I did not see any line at all. Is there a time when your skill level allows you to forgo the placement of a continuos line, or are the divers in these videos breaking one of the basic rules. Obviously these are very talented individuals, but if they are not using a line, is there a legitimate reason?

Just for the record - Deepswim (Nik) is not a troll - He is the real thing.
Tom thnx for compliment:blinking:

He stated; It was 3 SCUBA tanks left by Lost-Cave-Diver.
2 Tanks where in a basin almoust floating and empty. By that reason 2tanks where removed from basin.
1 Tank in a cave tonnel (this tank is on my video)
YouTube - # 1 Lost Diver The PianoRoom
