There is no other body there. The few people that have died were recovered. This we know for a faact.

Other thread is locked....

Newest scuttlebutt is that the cadaver dogs didn't find anything, but one of them indicated at the water's edge, and then jumped in....

On the drive to Vortex, you may drive right over lots of places on the road where people have been killed, you probably drive right past lots of cemeteries, and don't even think about it.

If I were back in the area & wanted to dive it, I'd dive it. The presence of the body wouldn't be an issue.

Richard.

I would have to agree with you people die every where i have seen more that i like to remember . I used to be a volunteer fire fighter i have seen people die just about any where but i still drive on the same streets where i have seen people die death is every where cant let it bother you if you do then you wont leave your house .It is sad that happen to someone i hope they can find him so the family can get closer .

I'm sure you meant closure

I am not freaked out with an idea that someone died their. I have dove in several systems that have taken several lives in each system. My actual problem was diving with a body still in the water. It has been nice to hear everyones comment so far, but one thought stays in the back of my mind. I have been around and seen alot of deceased individuals. Without painting too knarly of a picture a human body doesn't do all that well in the water. They kinda turn into soup after a while. I am not sure I want to swim through human soup (even with the flow at Vortex). Maybe I am just being foolish, I don't rule that out one bit. Maybe I will just take a respite from diving Vortex till things "clear up" a bit.

***if true*** that would mean that there is human decomposition in the water.

My source is of unverified reliability. Actually, the word was that three of the dogs indicated, and one of those three dogs jumped into the water. The same source stated that an underwater search would begin again tomorrow, and that the searchers would concentrate on a different area of the spring.

That part didn't make much sense to me, but I don't know what has and hasn't been searched yet underwater, so I suppose they could have indicated somewhere outside of the main basin???

Yes, I'll go there. We go every December as a keep in practice dive and usually early spring before going into the Gulf.

Vortex has a flow of about 28 Million gallons per day of 68 degree fresh water.

As far as contamination goes, this can't compare to what students stir up from the bottom on any given weekend.

I wonder if Vortex will still allow access to the cave? Seems to me like a dead body in there would add more danger. There is no telling how someone would react after stumbling onto a dead body. It aslo seems like cowboys would be going farther in than normal looking for the body. I dont cave dive tho, so I could be wrong.
