Well, we fly out of DFW at about 10:10 in the morning!... I look forward to meeting the members of this group on the island!
Laura and I will be at Wet Wendy"s tomorrow evening at about 7:30 and again on Tuesday. And at Sonora Sunday evening... Hope to see los of you at each!
How easy. I leave my house at 1:30 to get my buds at 2am, nag him for not being ready, then arrive at airport 4-4:15a for 5:20 flight. We should get there for lunch, turn in my pony and check-in with dive op, a run to Mega, a siesta, quiet dinner, more sleep. I'll be up for birthday diving by Sunday and the gathering that night. Looking forward to comparing CO testers with you too.

Just for the record my flight leaves at 7am Saturday, my bags are packed and by the door and I'm having a hard time staying at work.

Today must be really hard... Tic Tic Tic.. T-Minus 21 hours, 18 minutes until touchdown..

Yeah I should start packing sometime soon...

Sounds like you trip prep like me on the packing.. You've got a bit of a trip before you even get on the plane.. When do you land?
About got it bagged. I weighed one bag to see how close to 50# I was, then pulled 3# out and sealed it. Hehe, first thing I did was weigh my empty bags. Got two heavier one I should sell. 5# bag vs 12# bag = 7#@ more or less I can pack. Got the rest laid out well, but since I lost my Elite I have to pack 40# less total than in years past. Eh, I'll get my pony there somehow.

I called ContAir and moved our seats forward as they open up the Elite Coach seats 24 hours to flight time, but not online it seems. I wanted to do $100 upgrades, but they charge $320/segment now. I wonder if anyone ever does that? We land at 11:30am, hope to be at lunch by 1. My bud just called to ask when I was picking him up? "2am" "@#&%!" "Uh have you been to the Amarillo airport since 1988? Me neither, so I want some flex time, and it is further than Lubbock's."

I will be there for the first time August 26 through September 2. I will be staying at the royal playa del carmen. I am not certain which dive operator I am going to dive with. Are there any recommendations?

I started to say that I would bring it to the dinner Sunday night, but you will see it on the boat Sunday AM!! :D

Wow! I had no idea you were flying out of Amarillo!... That is WAAAAAY the other side of town from you!
I can't believe you didn't just drive up to Amarillo this evening and grab a hotel for the night!... I don't think I could pull of an ordeal like you have ahead of you!
The only good thing I can think of as far as flying out of Amarillo is that if the plane has trouble getting airborne, there isn't anything taller than a cactus to run into! :rofl3:

Everybody has their own favorites!..... That's sort of like asking which is better, Fords or Chevrolets!

Dive Paradise is pretty good for folks without a whole lot of experience (IMHO). But, then again, so are a lot of the others!....
I am trying out Scuba Mau for the first time... Don't know yet if I will like them or not! :idk:
In the past I have been very pleased with Aldora Divers. They use 120 CF steel tanks, so I can go deeper (I like that!!) and occassionally get in a little deco time... But they cater well, I think, to newer divers as well!
You just have to try out a few and form your own opinion. Google "Cozumel dive operators" and then go to each of their web sites... Look over the photos of their boats and staff, compare prices, see if you can find reviews to read... Then just pick the one that sounds best to you and give them a try!
I will tell you that if you subscribe to "Undercurrent" on line news letter, they are a GREAT source of information and reviews!

Some further. We usually drive 43 miles to Lubbock airport, but this will be almost twice as far since theirs is other side of town for us. Getting a room to get up at 3 there is no better than 3 hours of sleep in my own bed, just more expensive.

And on that note, I think it is nap time. zzzzzzzzzzzz

Well, had an extremely uneventful trip in from Texas! (Thank you Lord!) Had a drink with Dave Dillehay Saturday PM.... He said to tell everyone that he really does exisist!.... Even though sometime it doesn't seem so! :rofl3:

Then, had a great Hungarian dinner at WET Wendy's Saturday night with lots of good scubaboard folks there among the 55 or so people. Thanks to Chad and Clara for taking care of all of us.

Today was great diving with Dandy Don, his friend Jerry, Harro10, and 84turboz! ....
Couldn't ask for a finer group of dive partners!!

Looking forward to tonight at Sonora Grill!

Ain't island life great!
