What do you dive, and why?

What would you prefer to dive, and why?

It all depends on the type of SM diving you are doing. I go anywhere from cave filled LP95's for the "heavy" stuff to AL80's for summer swimtrunking around the local quarry.

There is no perfect...

I trim better with LP95s than HP130s when I want a ton of gas.

I use LP72s for smaller stuff or when I don't need a ton of gas. I'd rather have LP85s for most of this type of stuff, but the 72s were cheap/free. When its really small, the 72s are great, and they're also great for monkey diving. Better than AL80s IMO, since they're smaller and don't get totally positive.

When it gets really really small... I envy those with LP45s.

:rofl3: Okay, stop picking on the ignorant!!! :rofl3: "Monkey diving"?:rofl3: and 45s? Why not just go single tank?

So you always dive doubles? You don't go to singles for recreational diving?

LP45's are popular for pushing really small cave, and going for a look in areas where you don't really know if there's cave or not.

Being a sm n00b, I've been using LP85's because they're the easiest to manage that I've tried, and I'm finding that most caves where I choose to SM, they provide enough gas.

And yes, I use singles for recreational. I'm a lazy diver. I never swim where I can scooter. I never dive doubles where I can dive a single tank. I never dive SM (have to make 2 trips to the water) where I can dive BM.

That's good to hear. I don't expect to dive doubles anywhere we go on vacation. Shoot, I don't expect to dive two tanks this year! :)

So, do you have a singles rig and a sidemount rig? Or do you put a single on your sidemount rig?

What I'd like to hear is that I could use a sidemount rig for both sidemount, and single tank when I travel.

I've got a singles rig,a doubles rig and a sidemount rig.

Have not done it myself but apparently its real easy to put a single tank on the back of a Nomad with a couple of cam straps. Probably works better with an Al80 than a LP104.

If I were mixing single tank and multi tank dives on a trip I would just take my Nomad.
