depends.. some are good, some are very reactionary..

I don't expect perfection in an imperfect world.

As with police, managers, etc. MODs are there to do their jobs whether people like them or not. They have rules that they have to enforce even though some people may not agree with the rules they still have to be enforced.

Over all....the Mods and staff here are fair and do the best that they can. They also do well to get involved and still interact with the board but still do their job.

A moderator who reports to people who have "no business knowing what is going on in there"? But surely that's a moderator's job isn't it? To which "private user groups" are you referring? Surely if there was any problem with one, then the Mods should be able to rectify it or report it, no matter where it is or who it involves, as they are moderators for the entire forum, aren't they? I don't think any one area should be excluded, or is a "private" forum exempt from the ToS?

Because what is said in a private group is meant to be just that, private. Any moderator sharing this information with persons it was not intended for is in fact perpetuating drama on the board and therefore not acting in the best interest of ScubaBoard, the term abuse of power comes to mind.

Perhaps you should fully understand the post prior to a kneejerk reaction aimed at people you have routinely showed a dislike for. Just throwin' it out there.

MODs that watch what is said in a PRIVATE forum and then "share it with the world are NOT doing their "job"......and yes it has happened several times.

Why should there be a need for any "group" to be private? You have opt-in groups, regional groups, groups in SI and The Pub, I'm just saying!

Hmm, "routinely shown a dislike for"? There is no-one I have a "dislike for"; there are people with whom I agree and those with whom I disagree, that's about it.

Surely if you have something you don't want shared, then you should not post it on the 'net! Nothing is truly private on the WWW!

Because there is a certain element of ScubaBoard that feels compelled to meddle in the business of others and some of us enjoy having private discussions, the fact that these private groups have been enabled by the board tell me they are none of your business unless you should be invited. I for one could care less what occurs in anyone else's group and expect the same courtesy.

My argument is not whether it is private but that a couple MODs have abused their positions. Most of the current ones are good in this regard.

That almost deserves a THANKs Evert....too bad I am mobile.

Another option is MODs that choose to not abuse powers. IJS

Maybe you should try email or skype.
Totaly privat. No mods, just your local cops or feds or what ever.

Maybe you should do your job and stop making snarkey responses to people all of the time. Scubaboard enabled private clubs, if you have a beef with that it's with NetDoc, not me.
