i think this is kinda TRYING to sum them all up in one attitude. if your on the board enough you see some mods are cool some on power trips and some are very intuitive and helpful

[-]some[/-] most mods are cool : Cave_diver, live4sharks, merxlin, TC, almitywife to name just a wee few
some on power trips: Very rare! They keep each other in check.
But mostly some are very intuitive and helpful: Teamcasa and TSandM

Thanks Mods for all your time and dedication to SB!

What has become of almitywife? I haven't seen her around in quite some time...

Overall they do a good job I think.

Occasionally there is the situation where someone is baited into reacting, they remove the offending reacting post without removing, warning, or modifying the "baiting" post.

In that case it's better to either do nothing or to remove both posts.

Always keep in mind that we select moderators on how they interact with different members, especially those of different philosophical bents.

The primary concept is that you are a member first, and a moderator second.

We hope that you will approve of how our moderators handle things and give them their EARNED respect.

Thank you for starting this thread.

Hmmm, I can't really answer the poll because it depends on the Mod. They are very different.

I believe the majority of mods on SB are great (not going to name names b/c I would leave someone out and cause hurt feelings). Other Mods are on serious power trips (although we have less of those in the past several months).

:soapbox:
I personally just wish mods would stay out of the private user groups, especially if they are only in there to report back to people who have no business knowing what is going on in there... [/soapbox]

I agree that for the most part the mods on SB are great people and moderators. You will always get the couple that abuse the power but that is life anywhere. They do have a tough job dealing with people like me :D.....some go out of their way to be good and some it comes naturally to. KUDOS to both groups. The rest, well, hopefully you will keep or start trying .

Is Howard a Mod? :D

On the whole, I'd say better than average.

Mods are like referees - you don't want to see them unless they are really needed, and by and large the SB mods tend to stick to that.

A moderator who reports to people who have "no business knowing what is going on in there"? But surely that's a moderator's job isn't it? To which "private user groups" are you referring? Surely if there was any problem with one, then the Mods should be able to rectify it or report it, no matter where it is or who it involves, as they are moderators for the entire forum, aren't they? I don't think any one area should be excluded, or is a "private" forum exempt from the ToS?
