I run fun dives for $35/dive in Oakville aboard my Dive salvage tug Orkney Isle for certified divers with log book and diver certification card.

I have some other dive shops ,private instructors and dive clubs doing advanced, rescue , fun and specialty dives. Dives on Tuesday at 7pm sign up in the shop at 6:30pm. then set up on the boat. Two tank dive Thursday at &:00pm.with the second dive as a night dive.

Saturday dives start at 0800am. for two tank dives, next dive at 2:00pm. and then 5:30pm. We also run group dives at any time. Some days we anchor the Orkney Isle on the site for the day .
Any rentals pre-booking is a must. New divers come in for sizing before dive day on wetsuits etcetera . Boat rental price for full rental with one tank $55.00 plus the cost of the dive. All rentals must be returned after dive within 40 minutes.

The Orkney Isle is a large dive platform 45’ by 14” with lots of room for divers gear coolers whatever, with a 17 minute ride from slip to the dive site. I Also cut off the back end off the Orkney Isle and it has steps down to the water for easy entry nice and safe. In nice weather I back the Orkney Isle onto my marked mooring so it is easy to descend and when you ascend the dive platform is right there. This a lot easier than trying to get in and out of a small boat or an inflatable.

The Orkney Isle has a head , GPS, RADAR ,first aid kit and O2, comfortable ride and me R Shannon a experienced Dive boat operator , commercial diving instructor, second generation Canadian dive shop operator and specialty instructor. I like divers of all certifications and levels, I help ,I care about them being safe, give good tips on dive skills, and having a good time. My Rule is no ego’s lets dive and if you don’t feel good don’t do the dive.

We dive on a tugboat converted to a barge called the Jesse Anne [it has been miss named the saqueen on the OUC site].

Depth at bottom is 70ffw and on deck its 60ffw 100ft long and 30ft wide. A great platform for any training dives.
I have a large mooring line so it’s an easy ascent /descent and safety stop. I attached a large float so there usually is no line shake or bob.

There is a Cessna and a three big cruisers [ The Jeannette M, The Crash and Salvage commercial trainer and the Dawn} and another wreck sunk offshore called the TYGER 3 and I will be lifting it and moving it closer to the Jesse Anne. I use lines to run out to the different sites so there is a lot to see and do on a dive. We also have located another jet air plane which we will move over to the Jesse Anne.

If you have your own boat and wish to use Oakville Divers mooring and visit the site just call the shop for permission [905-842-8881]there is no charge for using it. If not just anchor far enough away from the site so we may moor easily and safely.

I also have a very large 26 man inflatable dive boat I ”may” use this summer to dive Toronto Harbour Dives Sligo , Lyman Davis etcetera.

Cheers
Rob

I did a dive with Robert as well this April . The waters are cold but it's worth it. Can add that Robert is always very nice not pushy and always helps with advice. Definitely going to do more dives on his boat.

Thanks for the reports on the wreck dives.

We haven't done a dive with Rob yet, but have been to his shop several times and he is just what you want in a LDS owner - friendly, service oriented and knowledgeable.

Fun Dives are Back!
Dive close to home and meet new dive buddies. Lake Ontario dives are starting back up for the season. Board the Orkney Isle and dive the wrecks in clean, clear (yes, clear and clean) water. Evening and weekend dives are starting now! All levels welcome.
We have many recently discovered sites within the Oakville area of Lake Ontario, but our preferred wreck is the Jesse-Anne, a 95ft barge resting upright at a depth of 50ft to the deck, 70ft to the silt bottom.

The JESSE ANNE‎ - Capt. Robert Shannon‎ - 28 Oct 2008

The JESSE ANNE Another miss named wreck it was a tug converted to a barge which then caught fire and was scuttled in 1945 by CC Marine. It is 100 ft in length and thirty feet wide. Oakville Divers has a privately maintained marker on it with a orange red float below water for a safety stop. WARNING ALLWAYS CHECK FOR FISHING HOOKS ON DESCENT LINE FOR SAFETY

Just call the shop if you wish to use the mooring 905-842-8881 and stay clear when in use for safety.

They also put a Cessna there and have student divers cleaning and rehabbing the wrecks to keep it safe and free of zebra mussels. Also the Jeannette M and a boat called the crash and salvage are near follow the red line on the starboard side. Follow the port side orange line to the wreck of the DAWN check out the pictures on facebook group oakvillescubadivers or www.scubaontario.com depth to the bottom is average of 70 feet of freshwater [ffw] and the deck is at 60 ffw. }}}} as posted on the OUC web Site Oct 28 2008

Umm, you know that anything left in the water is considered abandoned, and doesn't belong to anyone. From what I hear, your boat hit another boat that was moored up with divers in the water today.
Read the account here if you like Ontario Diving
Sounds like a real safe operation. :shakehead:

every year around this time it seems that I hear a story about your boat causing problems around that area of the lake, and jj is 100% right you do not own that mooring anymore!!

I do not know what you are talking about. Whom ever you are

I was out and I have a marked maintained private mooring for all divers not just guys with blue gloves and a twin tank ego’s trying to make a name for themselves. I post my hours of operation so everyone know's when I go out. Its free for anyone to use all they have to do is call when another boat shows up say hi and give them a spot on the line. Some people choose not to do this they are that type. Diving is supposed to be a fun social sport where all kinds of people can meet and talk. That’s my kind of diving anyway fun diving.
Try collision regulations for a marked maintained private mooring Transport Canada. Also look up flotsam, jetsam and lieum or lignum sorry I don’t have the correct spelling. Also try Marine law it’s different.
Ontario Diving will not let me join again and they seem to delight in getting it wrong and character assassination. I was booted off when I complained about a guy who posted a picture he had to scan that was stolen out of my shop. [ I took that family picture when I was up in g-bay 30 years ago ,gone now stolen scanned and posted %*##@@...][ ps I like scuba Q pictures and most of the people seemed to be nice some friends but for a few bad apples as usual I apologize for all them everyone]
A guy named ted and His buddy who demanded I give him 35% off because he was a fire man. I told him he gets the same price as everyone else he verbally attacked me in the store about it. Really cool people to hang out and dive with. They had my mooring last year and wouldn't share. So they attack me online because they don't get a fireman's 35% discount. It was a set up from the start I guess ted and his buddy thought that they would harass me with my students on board.

Lets clear the air here I have been diving and on a dive boat since I was six. I have run my dive boat Orkney Isle by myself for over 25 years I know a lot more about dive boats and how they operate than most people. I have had my shop here for 20 plus years. All of a sudden in the last few years I start getting attacked on line by these guys a”” little for friends only dive assassination association””” . It all started when I caught two of them stealing camera’s from our store all called them on it. Really cool ONTARO DIVING people. Then this their scuba F ONLY gang starts writing all kinds of stuff about me and you can look it up for yourself and decide what you want to believe. It sure makes them look stupid. After 30 plus years in the business all of a sudden ??? what Happened??? Seems strange that I changed over night ??? everyone who speaks or knows me will say I call it straight no lies or BS the truth. Seems really funny????I am mister dive safety lets go slow double safety checks???Take your time learning no short cuts??? What happened ???? Got married had a baby???

My biggest problem is I tell the truth and I am a straight shooter so it’s a little hard for me to take when they start writing stuff about you and you cannot rebut it. Sorry I don’t wear diapers when I dive or have blue gloves , twin tanks and push deep diving past 140ft. I get mad when people steal from me and act like it’s ok to come by the shop and hang out. When someone comes into the shop and the first time demands in front of customers/students/friends to get 35% off because they are a fireman. Swears at you in your home because they don’t get it !!!!! everyone gets the same service. Regular customers get package deals .......... This type of c##p is why dive stores usually don’t last more than five years. Anyways I could go on about this BS for hours you want the real storey drop by.

I develop dives for fun divers people like the Parents , families nice people , real tech divers, nice rebreather divers who like to show and talk about their kit to the new guys and get a kick out of it. So all real divers who like to dive catching on yet?

Let’s get back to the newest today.

Seriously................ I don’t know what you are talking about. Saturday dive 0800 posted on this site. I go out there is aquaholic Eric [ he has never every spoken to me ? maybe he is believing what these F Only divers write i do not know ] on my Privately maintained marked mooring [ YES I am a commercial diving supervisor and YES I work for most of the salvage companies YES it’s not abandoned as you say I placed it I maintain it for my safe use and ] I ‘Posted’ if you want to use my mooring call drop by say HI. Give us a call. What more can you do.

How does it work elsewhere when dive boats happen to be on the same site do they share ???

Anyways I stopped 20 or 30 ft off eastward because there was no way I could slip in a line on my mooring. I had to help a diver and yes we drifted into them someone yelled about a diver I ran forward with my boat hook and we were only touching the bow that is all I could see. I looked for divers there was one clear on the ladder port side and one on the mooring line underwater. That’s what I saw. They are in a inflatable I pushed them off with the boat hook we separated. Its easy I have a 26 man inflatable dive rib, a 20 foot commercial rescue rib, a commercial 18 ft. A bunch of small rescue dinghy’s I know how to handle inflatable’s in all types of marine conditions. No Harm done Sorry we bumped. do dive boats ever bump?

I saw no one hurt or damaged no diver in the water bleeding or screaming for first aid. No one one the boat bumping off or pointing to a diver or moving or even helping a damaged diver. If I saw someone in distress, I myself would have jumped in its what I would do. What anyone would do. Nothing. I went back to my divers nice people fun divers all. The inflatable aquholics finished their dive and left.

I took up my mooring clear Flat calm on top murky below but nice and warm slight surface and bottom current. My fun divers went down and came back . We started our surface interval so I wrapped my flag to wait it out. I notice Eric boat off near Oakville Harbour on the jetsam line floating from the storm. I called him on the radio and told him to come over and use my mooring . He did, he tied up alongside. They never said anything they went diving. I introduced Eric to my Father Todd Shannon. While his divers were underwater he said nothing if someone kills one of your divers as a boat operator you tell them flat out.
I don’t understand it if I had hurt someone I am sorry and I will make a personal apology and beg there forgiveness for my error.
No one said a word. Not one diver on that boat I think eight of them said a word. I would think one of them would have piped up and given someone who killed a diver a what for?? Why come along side my boat if I hurt a diver? Who were these guys were did they come from if I hurt one of a dive team . I expect someone would have said something. I wouldn’t have gone over and tied up to the other boat. That’s why I say I do not know what you are talking about.

It was flat calm we drifted in the current and bumped they didn't even look like I pushed them out of the current alignment.

It must all go back to me not going after those jerks on the Ontario dive web site I guess if you don’t rebutt you are guilty in your silence. I think most people know me my family and my business would agree even if they do not like me that it’s BS. I have been diving and working as a professional diver in all aspects of the underwater world for many years. I am second generation dive professional diver. What is all this cra##p the last two years.

I plan on raising a third generation. I hope they do not have to go through this type of character assassination. I was first attacked as a Shannon diver when I was 10. Real cool guy’s I still remember that and you. So ends my silence anyone want to come down here who was not there and doesn’t know me and tell me all about it ,I am here seven days a week. Everyone knows me I mean everyone around here knows me they will point you in my direction. I have had it. That’s for you two...........

When I find out the real story and I will, I am going to post it here. Just keep watching this post for the truth for a change not a bunch of slander. Something strange but I always find out diving is to small a world for me not to. Ps say Hi to my fan club on ontario divng I have a quote for them

""The only reason anyone would ever hate you
is because they want to
be just l like you. "

Robert I can quote your post on Ontario Diving for you if you want.

Sergey

Rob, I hope you realize that all of these eyewitness accounts (ongoing over the last 2 1/4 years) and public conversations with you and warnings to you could be taken into consideration at any future murder trial or attempted murder trial or assault trial or reckless endangerment trial you may have and whether any incident you have even goes to trial.

You have identified yourself on this board; you have identified the shop you own and given your credentials; and you have admitted some involvement in some of the incidents. Any family/friends/operators/agencies/lawyers of an injured party will EASILY be able to show the police and a judge the MULTIPLE warnings to you to cease and desist from your reckless endangerment to other divers and vessels. They will also be able to see your rebuttals to the incidents, which are contradicted by witnesses, and be able to compare them to the incident(s) they investigate in the future.

You are clearly losing customers and damaging your reputation very publicly as well as risking your personal freedom and everything you have worked for. It is very disappointing to see someone as respected in your field of commercial diving and stunt diving as you are to lower himself to criminal behaviour in order to deter divers. Pitiful. :shakehead:
