These are the booties that I currently use with my Jetfins. Are they adequate for shore diving in Bonaire? I can't find any harder sole booties that will fit my medium Jets and I'm not changing fins.

Akona 3.5mm Standard Boot - Akona High Top Boots

I wore boots like that the first time I went and ended up buying hard soled boots after a couple of dives there.

And the hard soled boots I have now are good but, there are some pretty tough spots to go in. I also wear neoprene socks that keep the sand out on entry and exit.

Can you borrow different fins? If you don't have enough protection for your feet, do you want to spend your entire trip uncomfortable??

Just my .02

I'm not sure how the foot pocket on the M Jetfin differs from the L Jetfin, but I wear this XS boot with my L Jet and am quite happy.

I tried these on yesterday with my medium and large jets and the foot pocket felt tight. Not to mention that the spring straps didn't reach and I'm trying to avoid replacing $80 straps :D. I prefer the medium jets because they are a little lighter. But the pocket in the large is indeed a little larger.

This is going to turn into an expensive pair of boots if I have to replace the spring straps...

Unless you are use to walking barefoot a lot I would suggest something with a heaver sole and I am guessing barefoot is not that often in Alaska. I have something similar and spend a lot of time barefoot, they are barely acceptable to me. You will be better off with something more like a tennis shoe sole. This is more like what you need Akona BOOTIES 3.5MM Molded Sole Deluxe - Akona High Top Boots

Something like Herman suggested is the ticket. There are shades of gray but in the end you want a shoe not a slipper.

As for the spring straps you may be able to finesse the length if needed with the addition of some stainless steel S hooks.

We have Henderson InstaDry Heavy Soled booties and found them to be the right type of boot for Bonaire last year. I really wouldn't have wanted anything thinner as some entries can have pretty heavy ironshore.

Mickey,
You can get by with soft soled booties on Bonaire, but you have to be very careful with you foot placement. This is what I wear while on Bonaire. ScubaPro 6.5mm Heavy Duty Boots - ScubaPro High Top Boots These boots work very well for the shore entries and exits on Bonaire. I did have to go to the next size Jets, but I have big feet anyway. :D Good luck. :palmtree: Bob

Have to agree with everyone else. We all have those boots, but my son and I decided to by a hard soled boot before we went to Bonaire. My wife didn't and went with her Akona "Standard". We had no probem, she complained about feeling every bump, stone, knob, etc.

OK, I'm going to buy the Henderson neoprene ones at my LDS. They are not as thick as the Seasoft ones but they do have a heavy sole. The Henderson one actually fits in the foot pocket of my jets properly. I will just buy another set of spring straps-larger ones. I'll just use these boots permanently. I've never liked the sock feel of the booties anyway.

Thanks for helping me to separate myself from my money guys :)
I already knew the answer but I needed some backup.
