First let me introduce myself. You may have seen my "local scene" post but I'm the real "Scubasteve" :crafty:, not really but I am Steve and while diving is fairly new to me I think you'll all probably get pretty familiar with my posts as I tend to get kind of fanatical about new sports :shakehead: so I look forward to meeting many of you. My wife Angela is just getting certified so you'll probably meet her as well.

Anyway, to the point...anyone diving this Saturday afternoon that wouldn't mind a novice diver joining them? Wife has to be there from 1:00pm to 5:00pm for her dive class and I thought I might go along if I have someone to buddy up with for our own dives or is it getting too warm in the afternoons?

BTW, Andresrumis, my wife and I work an odd schedule so while I can't dive this Wednesday (pool is getting plastered) I do have every other wednesday and every thursday, friday, and saturday off if you want to do mid week dives.

Steve

I would like to dive Vista Point this Saturday 05/16/09, I am a new diver and have never dove Vista Point so I hope that is ok. I would also be up for 05/23/09 as well.

Let me know when and where.

Thanks,

Neil

Josh: I should also be good for 04/23/09.

Steve / Mike: Any interest in diving Saturday morning (04/16/09)?

Regards, Bill

Anyone is welcome to joim Steve (ScubaSteve2000) and I on Saturday morning May 23rd (next week). We are meeting at 7am at Vista Point. If you need directions to where we are diving, then just let us know.

We'll probably dive at least two dives and maybe a 3rd. Steve wants to do a 3rd but I may not be able to stay that long.

Come on out and join us next Saturday.

That sounds great, thank you. I will definitely be there next Saturday. I would go for a 3rd dive, how deep do you guys go?

Depends on the comfort level of the divers and the visibility. You can find 100'+ near Vista Point right now. Last weekend the vis was pretty good at 60'.

You should get a dive light and a compass if you don't have them already.

Steve.

Steve said it perfectly above. We'll go as deep as anyone feels comfortable. We've usually gone between 60' and 100' but sometimes only less than 60' VIsta Point is a great spot too and there still should be some fairly good visibility although I've noticed some reports that its starting to disappear as it usually does a little in the summers. A dive light would be a great thing to bring along if we go deeper than 60' - even if you never turn it on. A compass is a must too.

See you there next Saturday. We'll be parked up on the dirt road near Vista Point and we'll have the dive flag out at 7am.

By the way Steve, what would you recommend - 3mm or 7mm suit?

I think I'll bring both just in case but that water will probably be in, or near the 70s by next Saturday. That's 3mm water for me, but with a thermocline I'm not sure.

I am not steve but a 7ml if your going below 50 feet. it was 56 at 95 feet on sunday but 70 on the surface..i think a 3ml may be too thin. i was thinking of trying my 5ml this thursday evening at vista point. some of us are meeting at 4pm if anyone wants to join us your more than welcome.

Based on last weekend a 7 mil is still probably your best choice when going past 50 - 60 feet. The vis is not that good until you get to the depth so you'll probably want the thicker suit.

That sounds tempting. How many tanks do you get in? Do you stick around for a night dive?
