Pink Spot on DC800 Shots

Hi all,

Still fumbling my away around underwater photography.. sure one day I will get there but.... took a fair few shots on my 2nd outing with my DC 800 with single strobe on a 25metre dive the other day.

As expected due to my infamiliarity with the camera may came out over exposed, some under and one or two spot on (sounds like a 3 bears story). On cleaning some of the shots up in Photoshop CS3 I have noticed a faint large pink circular spot smack bang in the middle of the frame, equating in size to around half the vertical frame.

I wind back the brightness and it fades, but the majority of shots that I try to manipulate have this aberation.

I should post one up so show you all but until this time, does anyone know what could cause this or seen it for them selves?
My initial thought was reflection of some kind from the strobe, but it is too uniforma dn always in the same spot.

I can see no smudge on the lens and t he spot or circle appears to be perfectly circular. I have never seen it on any of the land photos I have taken ..... but then having stated this, I have not really edited any of my land photos.

I will try this first.

Attached is a photo. I have turned the gamma down to the negative hence the photo looks like the inverse of what it should be... pls ignore this ( or we could make it into a guessing competition as to what the photo was!!). But seriously, it is showing exactly what I was stating in my last thread.

This appears to be repeatable on every photo.

Oh... I forgot to state, this is not an artifact from either the editiing software or the computer it is on. I can use Photoshop or the program Thumbsplus that I use for archiving my photos, on different computers, and I get exactly the same pink circle.

I must be the only person reading this thread.. nothing like talking to yourself...

What I have not stated in this thread is that this DC800 is infact my second. The first lasted a week. When first purchased, the housing leaked and both the housing and the camera were replaced under warranty. The Australian distributor pressure tested the camera housing and it failed.

So.. I have gone back to some of my first photos with my original DC800. Guess what... same issue. Wind back the gamma on the photos and a big pink circle. What I have noticed is, and this is going to sound dumb, the pink spot is in the background. Visualise layers of colour. The pink, is behind all the other colours and is most defined on photos that are over exposed in the centre part of the photo.

I think the Sealife DC800 is a dud. My old Samsung with its water proof housing took a fantastic photo.

How do I get hold of Sealife Joe in this forum to have a look at what I am saying???

Calling Sealife Joe... Help. Can you read the aformentioned thread.

Simply put, 2 x DC800 Pro. Get a pink circle on the image when the gamma or intensity is either raised of lowerd. Get the problem on both cameras tried but not on different vendors.. such as my Samsung.

I feel there is a systemic problem with the Sealife DC800 and I would like to know how to get it fixed as, should I have to manipulate the photo in any way, especially if slighty over exposed, I have to abort the mod as a large pink cirdcle appears on the JPG image.

Whilst I am not against the colour pink (yes colour.. I am in Aus), It really stuffs up a good photo when there is a pink bulls eye in the middle of the shot.

Can someone else out there with a DC800 try this. Take a photo, with the centre image like a coral which has reflected most of the stobes flash, and wind down the gamma and see if you get the same pink spot I do.
