I own a good amount of gear from both. I like them both so much that I got rid of everything else, and just kept the H and DSS stuff. You really can't go wrong with either. DSS has some really great features, tons of wing choices, and unlike alot of other choices you won't sacrifice quality for a lower price. Halcyon has given me superb service, and they also spent a significant about of time explaining things to me and making sure I got a good setup that would meet my needs. I don't think you will be disappointed with either choice.

Another vote for Halcyon, but I would not hesitate on a DSS rig.

I've got a DSS single tank setup - it is very good, I'd recommend it.

I haven't used but seen a Halycon rig up close and pretty much all my diving has been in a DSS rig. DSS for sure, it's just too awesome.

The only competition to DSS I think would be the Oxycheq Mach V Signature wing.

A few words of advice:

*You probably need less lift than you think you need (for tropical diving 18-20lbs is plenty)
*Consider a lightweight plate for ease of travel. You can always put weights on cambands if you don't want to wear a belt
*Do NOT get an adjustable harness. They are the spawn of satan. Single piece harness works extremely well.

And why is this? I have a single piece harness myself, but just curious :)

Halcyon!!!

Do some dives trying both setups. One will stand out for you I'm sure.

Agreed. The "right one" will only be known once you have a chance to dive all of your options and decide for yourself. If you buy one without trying it you are relying on the opinions of strangers who are telling you "you can't go wrong with Brand A" which of course most are going to say since they already laid down their own money on Brand A...and have probably never dived Brand B either.

Ultimately, there's precious little difference between any two manufacturer's wings. For any given wing type they're all the same +/- 5%, and you'll "be fine" with any of them. What it comes down to on any particular wing is whether that +/-5% will make a difference to you and whether it's worth any price difference.
