To bad its limited to 12 options. I've had the good fortune to dive with some of the folks from IWD early this year and they did an awsome job at the Lake Pleasant Scuba Show. I live in Chandler so I doubt I'll ever get over there but they seem like good folks.

I have asked Capt Pete several questions and met him a few times at DT while he was teaching some classes. VERY helpful. I would have been in his shop several time by now but he is on the other side of the world from me.
For those of you on the west side IWD is your best LDS.

Thanks for the kind words!

But IWD is a NAUI shop! :) Just Kidding! They are good folks out there and I've had the good fortune to dive with them a few times. I worry that the Sports Chalet because of their access to big advertising may cause IWD problems. If you know divers on the west side of town, steer them to IWD!

Since there seems to be measurable support for Inland Water Divers what I can do is modify the poll and replace Other with IWD. And reset that counter to zero.

To do this I'll need the 3 people who voted other to PM me with their approval. I believe one was Garrett. (post #4)

And CallesCafe also since it's her thread. I'm not going to do anything to follow up except this post.

If this happens and you've already voted but would like to vote for IWD also, PM and I will add you to their count.

No problem with me, and with all this talk about IWD, I'm going to need to go check them out.

It's been a while since someone has posted on this thread. I just wanted to make a comment and this seemed the most appropriate thread.

I had a really great experience today with The Scuba Shop on Greenfield Rd. in Mesa. I had signed up my daughter (age 11) to do a Discover Scuba class back in December. We had to cancel that one but ended upt going today. They provised all the gear for her and a tank and then since I had brought my gear with me, I went along and they let me use one of their tanks. It was just the instructor and my daughter and myself in their pool. This was her first experience ever with diving. That is a really great environment they have there at The Scuba Shop and their own, heated, yes heated pool. The instructor was really patient with her since she kept struggling with her mask, and then struggling with her ears as we got below 6' and then never really got below 7' since she kept coming up. We ended up staying in the shallow end and she learned how to clear her mask and to take the regulator out and put it back in while under water. Basis tasks, but for her, an 11 year old and someone who's never even snorkelled before, she ended up learning how.

The instructor was really nice and patient with her. We ended up staying in the pool for just over an hour. I know they were running a special back in December with the coupon to get a free Discover Scuba lesson like this, but this was January and they still didn't charge me. I left a tip though for the instructor since he really was patient with my daughter with her mask and ear issues. It took longer than I though because of those but she still had a really fun time. My daughter wants to go back and try again to equalize her ears and eventually get to the deep end.

I was really thankful for them and their hospitality. It was a great place for my 11 year old daughter and any younger divers. My other kids and my wife even got to view a little from the parent viewing area behind the glass wall inside their shop which faces the indoor pool.

I just wanted to thank them at The Scuba Shop. I thought this might be a good place to post that.

Hey Josh
It good to hear good reports on then since they are fairly new to the area.
I live fairly close to them and have walked in a couple of times to see what they stock and what deals they run. I know a couple of the instructors that work there and would consider offers from the shop. The one thing I really do not like is their paid membership program. It is probably the one thing that most keeps me away from there.
My feeling is it promotes 2 classes of customer and they should find a way to offer the memberships for free.

I posted this in the sealife forum so I'll try here now.

I plan on buying a DC800 in the next week. My LDS doesn't carry them but a shop across town does so I'm considering them, Sports Chalet, or the internet. any comments or input on which would be best overall?
