Phuket-Koh Tao Bashing

What i do love though.. is when someone posts "Questions about Koh Tao" and all the west coasties jump in... then someone says "Questions about Phuket" and all the East coasties jump in..

The poor bugger who posts it has no idea what the hell just happened.. funny.

Another nice thing i heard about phuket was recently when a few people were here diving and they said "Man, all the *****s here are ugly, and so few, i'm going back to phuket" Nice to know you guys are beating us at one attraction

We have an international airport, modern shopping malls with SFX cinemas, waterfalls, musea, Zoo, many white sandy beaches, clean water, National Parks, quiet Thai style villages, cabaret shows, Phuket Fantasea show, elephant trekking, Go-Kart, Phuket Old Town, incredible variety on nightlife and restaurants, cable water ski, stunt show, off-road tracks, jungle, an aquarium, several worldclass marinas, 30 Baht som-tum with sticky rice, a bridge to the main land, proper roads, Thais that speak good english and farang that speak good Thai, buses, taxi's, limousine service, tuk-tuks, cable tv, UBC, working broadband internet at affordable rates, Thai fresh markets with lots of yummy fresh food, etc-etc-etc.

Now what do you actually really have on Koh Tao besides (way too many) dive shops, 2 or 3 OK divesites and Swedish girls in bikinis??

Limousine service, sfx cinemas and go-kart? Man...that's exactly what i came to Thailand for... we have dengue fever, beach parties, illicit sexual behavior, scantly clad girls and occasionally you might see a car. It's not like we really give a crap about the fish anymore anyway so let's leave the dive site aspect out

One thing i will say you guys beat us on is health care.. you have a chamber there.. but then again, judging by how you guys operate... you need it

That's where we differ then!
I came to Thailand with a backpack, got certified here and was blown away by the diving. For me diving has been the major decision making factor for staying here and choosing a "career" in diving.

Ofcourse we all decide to make a career for the fish.. but that's not what keeps us.. you have you're limo's and i have my swedish babes.. man cannot live on fish alone.

I think you're only dreaming about those Swedish babes and that every time you approach them they will run away screaming. Sort of like the same you're dreaming when you're diving off Koh Tao and really start to believe that the diving is actually pretty good when you see a fish and a piece of life coral.

It's also kinda sad that you came all the way to Thailand to feast your eyes on Swedish babes when there are so many absolutely gorgeous looking Thai girls around...

Keep on dreamin' but watch out for too much sun!

Last time I went to Koh Tao, I was going to sign up for some diving, but after hearing that I'd been tour leader on a Similan liveaboard, the dive shop I spoke to in Koh Tao advised me not to waste my money - thanks for the honesty!

One of these days I must dive there anyway... my wife is from Chumphon, and we always think of taking a ride to Koh Tao and have even been offerered free accommodation there by a dive center owner. One day...

Meanwhile, Happy New Year from Phuket. Maybe time to pull this silly thread in case people think Bowmouth is serious!
