Suggestions for a several months long trip destination

The Cayman Islands has started its "Global Citizen" program whereby remote workers can establish residency for up to two years. The internet here is fine, the food is some of the best in the Caribbean, the island has been essentially covid-free (no community spread) for about 10 months and there are no restrictions at all, and the diving is great. You would also qualify for resident rates for diving, which can be up to 50% lower than normal dive rates (although currently there are only residents on island since the borders closed to tourists a year ago, and the rates are slightly higher to make up for the lost business). And there is shore diving, of course. You would have to quarantine for 10 days if you are vaccinated (14 days if not). We have a few remote workers staying in my building who are here through that program and it's worked out well for them.

Interesting - Cayman Islands wasn't on my radar at all - but unfortunately I don't quite qualify for the $100k/year income requirement. Thank you for referencing it though; I might be able to do something like that in a few years.

Indonesia is well worth any effort to get there, the diving is amazing. Personally I would try to get a Russian passport and spend the time in the country with the best diving on the world ! Every time we have been to the Philippines the internet speed has been faster than last time. We had a lovely 3 weeks in Phi Phi, Lipe and Lanta in Christmas 2019 and were pleasantly surprised by the diving. The coral has really improved after the bleaching in 2010 and fish life was prolific. The divers and many of the guides tend to be relatively inexperienced, so short and quick dives are not uncommon. But as a destination for beaches and food and ease of travel, Thailand is tops.

Dual nationality is a good insurance!
Ease of travelling in Thailand was so easy even 34 yrs ago!
I was travelling from Bangkok - Ayutthaya - Sukhothai - Tak - Mae Sariang - Mae Hong Son - Chiang Mai - Mae Sai etc etc all by train/bus. No unnecessary delay. Chiang Mai in late 80s was a sleepy little town!!!!!
