Get married to the RB or the Missus?

(Hmm: wife or rebreather – it’s a tough choice and both have benefits. Any thoughts Almity1?)

Funny you should say that....

The decision on getting Rebreather had nothing to do with the marriage, or a choice between the wife or a RB.

After a discussion with the wife on wills and who to leave the inheritance to, and how my nieces and nephew will benefit (we have no children).

My response was....

If any of my nephews and/or nieces want any piece of an inheritance that have to earn it.

That is, they have to learn to suck up, big time.

And even then, I have no obligation to give them an inheritance, so guess where I am spending their inheritance.

:wink::D

Yep and comments posted here and on RBW. The book is everythng the OC diver could need in getting themselves prepared and educated to make their CCR purchase and initial understanding of how they work.

Rebreather Guide by Mel Clark

I just received a copy of Dr. Mel Clarks Rebreathers Simplified, A Complete Guide to Choosing and Diving a Closed Circuit Rebreather and I am elated to sing the praises for this marvelous text! Although I had the pleasure of reviewing the text prior to publication, seeing the expert layout, the full color photos (of which there are some MN divers pictured, and Isle Royale shipwrecks) and the bound 303 pages of a wealth of information – Yikes! Great Job Mel.

Recently I had the fortune to do some deep technical CCR wreck dives with Mel and Curt in Lake Michigan. Very nice wrecks with lots of “shiny things” - she takes some mighty fine U/W photos! And looking forward to her joining me again for some more great Isle Royale wrecks, Gunilda and the Bradley 2009.

But back to her book / encyclopedia / ….As an instructor I try to encourage my students to be as informed as possible, and I search for text regardless of the agency. The key is, the better the student is informed before class, the more questions they can ask and I like being challenged – shoot away…Now I rest my case as Rebreathers Simplified is the book for any diver looking at purchasing a CCR, or for divers wondering if they actually learned all the right stuff!

The value of the book easily justifies the price as an average CCR divers will spend between $4000 - $15,000 on a Rebreather – why go in uninformed?

Going Under Scuba Minnesota, Going Under Dive Center,GUDC SCUBA is Minnesota’s leading SCUBA and Snorkeling sales and training centers or my email RebreatherRon@yahoo.com has just received a small shipment of these books and they are going fast worldwide, so stop in soon and pick up your copy

Thanks Curt, just received my copy of the book. Made it about half way thru on my first sitting. Initially hesitant about the price, but knowing nothing about rebreathers decided that it would be worth it. It is ! Since then my wife has explained some of the disadvantages of being single and broke. At least I have some great pictures of rebreathers to go with the brochures I picked up at DEMA. Maybe she will get over it. I do have some comments on the book, but will pass them along in private, as my concerns are probably not relevant to anyone else.

tnx don O

Apart from the appendixes on current rebreathers how does the book compare to Bozanic's 'Mastering Rebreathers'?

Just wondering if I should expand my RB libary...

Yes, expand your library. Mel's book I just finished. Similar to Bozanic's, but a different style. A little better and more thorough in my opinion. Notice there was nothing in Jeff's book about the Inspo??? Wonder why???
Picked up some good tips in Mel's new book. She really knows her stuff.
I've heard Bozanic was just a ghost writer with Mastering Rebreathers.:shocked2:

Mine just turned up and had been attacked by angry postal workers!
Looking forward to having a look
