We bought our equipment from Oasis last year and need to get it serviced now. Anyone have any recommendations on where to bring it?

Personally I get my Atomics serviced at Scuba Specialties. I bought one there and they're my closest LDS. I've been very happy with the turnaround. My second choice would be El Mar, their tech has a good reputation locally.

Seaquest is a division of Aqualung. You can find your nearest dealer here: http://aqualung.findlocation.com/

People might be able to make better recommendations if we knew where in Arizona you live. Filling out your profile is a good way to do that.

For Atomic your choices (no recommendations) are Scuba Sciences (W.PHX & Cent PHX), Scuba Specialties (NW.PHX), El Mar(Mesa) and Ultimate Dive and Travel (Scottsdale). For your BC safe yourself the $ unless the inflator is corroded/malfunctioning or it's not holding air, especially if it's only a year old. Come to think of it, if you've only had your regs a year, you don't need service on Atomic for another year.

and nothing has been said. AzAtty, has the bankrupty been re-instated?
As a side note, there has been nothing I know of sent by Amy regarding this. The last e-mail I got asked everyone for their information so she could compile a creditor's list (which was sent out, I believe, the NIGHT BEFORE it was due to be filed), which obviously didn't happen.

So, once again Amy's not saying what's going on, obviously the creditor's list didn't get presented to the court, and we have no idea what her next move is going to be.

Unfortunately I don't have the ability to pull up any more info on the case ( I called a favor from a lawyer friend of mine for the last one and now we're all even), but if AzAtty or someone else could find out where it stands legally it might be of interest.

On a RELATED topic, how did the trip to Truk go?????

I am not sure why I spent the last 1/2 hour reading this entire post but it was a bummer that everything happened the way it did. I learned the hard way not to put money into a diveshop with Ocean Planet so I just taught for Oasis. Now I can't bring myself to teach for ANY shop - for at least the short term.

Amy is a wonderful person and I don't know what happened or I don't want to armchair quarterback it but i completely blows and I feel bad for those who were left hanging (I gave up on my backpay when I first got word of the situation).

There are still a lot of shops and a lot of cool people to dive with in AZ so I wish everyone the best and hope to see you in the water....

Nice post Bill, I couldn't agree more, diving is about divers having a good time, NOT about dive shops or their bad habits and politics. There's lots of good people out there that think owning a dive shop (or part of one) is the ideal dream, of those that do it, most lose their passion for the hobby they loved, and their money. The best way to make a million $$ in diving is to invest 2 million. Get back to diving for all the reasons you got hooked on it in the first place.
