Tim ...looks like you will be ok in BR....all my kids are in Iberia Parish, but they all all up North and safe.......hopefully we will be ok here in LFt. Looks like tomorrow won't be as bad as it could easily have been.....just pray it stays in dry air and doesn't build up any more before landfall....looks like around 8:00 am and Houma is going to get hammered!!

Looks like Hanna is going to hit Savannah head on if it continues this track. This is nothing compared to Gustav, but hopefully she stays on the calmer side.

hmmm.... this is from a previous storm, but you gotta worry about people who don't know what side of the windows to board up when a storm comes....

{notice the boarded up the "inside" of the windows instead of the outside to protect the glass

Wouldn't be as funny as if you don't notice it's Texas A&M bookstore, which has an engineering school and sholuld be able to figure this sorta of thing out... }

Might be me, but I think Monday will have a slight chance for showers for us in Baton Rouge!:D Wind IS picking up a little. I will have to report to my hospital in alittle while. I hope everybody fairs well and stays safe during this storm. Tim

If you notice it has a Texas A & M logo, that explains it.

We lost power at 9:21am. Currently running on the generator. I bodged a laptop onto the still-working cable. ;)

ok.... this is about stupid.

So we've got Gustav evacuee's here, which is expected. We even have several shelters set up for them.

I assume there are or could be gas shortages along the route north, or long lines, etc...

but I passed a family in their mini-van today with Louisiana plates. Strapped on top of their mini-van was 5 to 8 gas cans, 5 gallons each. They were just all strapped in place with one of those 1" rachet straps. (a single strap).

so if they were in a bad wreck, there is no way that that single strap would have held then in place.

seeing how gas weighs about 6 pounds per gallon, and 5 gallon cans, that's 30 pounds of gas each. at 5 to 8 cans, that's 150 to 240 pounds of gasoline stored above your family that will pour down on them in a wreck, like a big napalm bomb.

If I had had my camera, I would have taken a picture of it, it looked so crazy....

it's amazing how we've become dependent on the internet during storms and outages....

when we have a big storm and power outages (such as a tornado), I use the laptop to watch the streaming weather feed from the local TV channel.
