I went to Florida last week. Got there on Saturday and didn’t do any diving till Monday. I left all my gear in the car. When I set up and check tank pressure, by inhaling on the reg. Everything look okay. But when I got to the back of the boat to jump off. Did a check, the reg. wouldn’t exhaust at first. Then it did and the dive went okay. Do you think this was caused by leaving the gear in the car? I know the next time I will take the regs. into the room.

It sure could have but without inspecting it myself, it is hard to be sure. One way or the other, leaving your gear in a hot car for a few days can't be good for it.

My gear stays in the car for days sometimes weeks on end. Other than starting to smell it wont hurt it.

Regs "sticking" when dry isnt rare, first blow clears them and all is well.

I'm from New York and it isn't heat we worry about when leaving things in a car.

I wouldn't worry about the heat damaging your equipment. As far as the exhaust port is concerned, the high temp might have it slightly sticky so it needed a bit of extra force to release.
After a time at high temps, o-rings and rubber parts might be slightly off spec. I'd let things cool back and test to make sure that they're back to normal. Otherwise, no problem.

You guys in the UK or NY don't have the heat we get here in SoCal or Florida.
Temps inside a car parked in the sun all day can reach over 140.

Probably caused by the exhaust valve "sticking" just a little as it dries. I have a few regs that do this, in my case it has nothing to do with heat. Like String says, it is not uncommon, and frees-up with a good strong exhale.

Thanks for the replies. This was a first for me. Standing on the back of the boat. Ready to take that big step and things don’t seem to be working. That was a little unnerving. But I will know the next time. When I check the pressure. I want just inhale.

Quite possible in a car in the sun here in summer. Also didn't affect it in greece over the last 2 years where it gets hotter than that in vehicles.

Dive gear is not going to break in temperatures like that.
