Would the bunny feel comfortable recommending these for fairly new divers or for traveling? Looking for some lightweight fins, but functional. And with the variety of methods for ingress/egress from a dive (shore, boat, RHIB, etc.) maybe these would be the best compromise?

Are they worth the $150 (MSRP? Better pricing somewhere else?)

All I've dove with are my Jet fins, and my ex-g/f's Mares that didn't quite fit me right...

Your suggestions are appreciated!

Paul
Hi Paul!
Actually yes. Most people have a decent enough kick to get the things to lock into place. You can test this by getting vertical on the surface and bringing your foot forward in any pair of fins: if your fin tip stays in line with your leg you'll be able to kick lock them easily; if your fin tip veers off to the inside and whacks your other ankle as you bring your leg forward you're probably screwed on the kick lock. Most people aren't as clumsy as bunnies are so the locking shouldn't be an issue. It was really nice just unlocking them and walking out instead of having to take them off; if you ever saw me remove a pair of fins while wearing a drysuit/dry gloves you would understand why the flip fins were SO much easier.

They are a lightweight fin and that's beneficial for travel for sure. Bunny will be taking them on a cruise to Bermuda in August and will be reporting back on that experience :D

Contact Dive_Right_In_Scuba here on the board and see if he can hook you up. Tell him the rabbit sent you...of course then he'll probably charge you double :rofl3: (kidding :D )

OK, I will admit they look like they'd be potentially awesome for shore entries. Just don't tell Ber I said so. I occasionally, in certain rare circumstances, like to give her a hard time. If she knew I actually agreed with her and liked her gear, I'd never hear the end of it... Plus, it's just darn funny seeing her with ears at both ends! :rofl3::rofl3: (The fins, when in walking position, look like pair of giant rabbit ears. She wears a hood with rabbit ears when diving.)

Someone else posted about waves catching the fin as they backed into the water. But anyplace you have to gear up and walk a distance to the entry, they might be nice. You can step on them to put them down; seems easier than putting the fin on from scratch. Or if you have other gear to lug along it might free up a hand. My concern is how they might do if you really have to kick hard, will the snap release?
Sooooo you gonna try them? :eyebrow: I'm sure the XL pair would fit your big feet :blinking:

Stepping on them to lock them IS easier than bending/standing on one foot to don fins. Make sure you are not standing in a hole when you try to step-lock them; if your toes are sinking in the hole and the fin blade is not in the hole they won't lock no matter how many people you have helping you  (Bunny was on a dive mat so neither bunny nor her handlers could see the hole she was standing in.)

ber, i really admire your stick-to-it-ive-ness in trying these. i think i'd have given up long ago. for me the bennies don't seem to outweigh the drawbacks. what way are you leaning? do you think they'll become your main 'flipper'? (hahaha! get it? get it? :D )
Hi BabyDuck! Actually normal people wouldn't have had the problems I've had, any time I learn to dive new gear there's usually at least one funny story attached. Even the rabbit ear hood had a few giggles attached to the first dive or two. Overall I really like the fins so far even if they are a little beyond my operator capacity at the moment. I definitely love not having to take them off to get out of the water and walk back to the campsite. I noticed in the pool that my legs weren't cramping at all, the bunny's getting older and cramps were occurring before the end of the pool session in the Jet Fins. I think they are going to get the part of lead flipper in the bunny's dive saga :D

Maybe one of these days the bunny will get brave enough to buy one of the She-P pee valves. Let's see, clumsy rabbit, adhesive and private parts...THAT would make for some seriously funny posts :dork2:

So imagine orange flip fins with the orange ears. Ears at both ends!! :D
I posted the pic, now they don't have to imagine!

Take up a collection, I'd be happy to contribute for the entertainment value. Hope you won't mind me practicing cymbals out side the tent while you apply the adhesive. :blinking:

Keep up the great reviews Ber. I love reading your accounts of how your fins performed. One of these days, I am going to have to head East and see you dive these things in person.
