Hey I wonder who from PADI will stop by to give their version of the story
It'll never happen. They got a smooth gig, don't want to open that can of worms. It'd be a full time job...

Are you implying PADI is turning a blind eye to this?

The way I read this was that the OP was out airfare and hotel costs, not training costs.

yeah, I think you're right about that.

I haven't read the thread but I hope he at least got a nice vacation out of it.

Bummer.......................

A PADI rep once told me when he stopped in the shop I was with at the time that he would not come on here. Said every time he tried to explain a PADI position he got hammered. I asked him why he thought that was. He said he did not know since every one knows their program is the biggest and the best. He couldn't see the forest for the trees. But those who have posted are right I'll be shocked if they ever have a rep on here that will participate in an open forum. But make no mistake that they know what's going on. One of the agencies that is on here shared a workshop and stage with them at DEMA. I'm sure they are getting regular reports and will bet they are monitoring all of this. And as to the suspension I believe the CD. I'd be surprised if any standards were blatantly violated. It all smells like political crap and paperwork to me. For those who have not realized it they are the scubapro of agencies. Pretty good product but don't toe the party line or offer other training and they'll swat the center like a cockroach.

Hi all,

As for what the guys from Pattaya say, they are absolutely right!! I have set up the first CDC Gold Palm Resort in the world (December 2004), this was when I worked as a Training Director in Scubacaribe. This has taken a lot of hard work, making sure all the requirements are met etc..

With regards to Neptunes in Manzanillo, after I first started their I found they ran a pretty good show. Of course they had beginner problems, but that is normal.. Indeed I could have seen the trouble coming from miles away, however when PADI states in confidence, "eric keep on going with the Alternate Location IDC's till you meet the 6 month requirement after the Goldpalm status to obtain the idc status", then I am in the understanding that we are building something!

The reason i stopped Manzanillo is that I wanted to concentrate on my own business here in Cancun, which by traveling to and from their was very difficult, so I had to take a difficult decision..

With regards to Downunder, hey man, I understand you are angry and disappointed... I was looking for your emails, but have no clue where to start.. If you go to the Dominican Republic go and see Ferry Sneekes in Punta Cana bavaro. (Padi Caribbean Dive College, Bavaro and Punta Cana :: Scuba Diving :: Dive College :: Diving Career :: Divemaster Course) when he worked with me in Scubacaribe as a CD.. I am sure he will not dissapoint you!

With regards to Ben, I have to admit that he has been a lot better to me, then me to him.. Simply this whole situation with PADI and manzanillo has drained a lot of energy away from me.

Mayan Aqua Dive is a great small operation. If you ever want to take your Divemaster Internship there or simply a Dive package, Ben will take all his time for you and make sure that you have everything, he is very good with people and gets very personal with them. He doesnt want to take bigger groups any more for these programs, since the quality simply goes down and he is al about quality.

I will reconsider how I will be running these programs in the future, because of what I have seen with him the last 3 months !!

With regards with my cooperation between Aquanuts and Dive College, I have never met them, unfortunately. I am looking forward to visit them one day though! I did have one of their Instructors his wife doing the IDC with me, they only had good things to say.. The only relation we have is reciprocal linking to increase website traffic, so again, please dont start rumors......

Anyways, if anybody have any questions and would like to pm me, my mail is eric.zwanenburg@mac.com, I am happy to clarify any questions you might have.

Salu2,

Eric
