Has anyone dived with Asia Divers and stayed in El Galleon resort?

Is El Galleon or Lalaguna Beach Club better?

What is the divers : DM ratio?

Any comments?

hmmm my answer might be a bit one-sided as I was working for them, but I think AD is in the Top 3 in PG. Maximum 6 divers per guide. great characters working there.
food at El Galleon ok - good.
Point Bar absolut liver-damaging and brain-killing...

cheers

Seriously, I hold them high in my list of dive ops/resorts in PG.

What are the other 2 top dive shops?

Is the beach good for sunbathing and swimming?

Is it close the snorkeling site?

Thanks.

I agree... Asia divers has a good reputation. Although I never dove with them. The point bar is certainly the best situated bar there. Perfect view of the ocean!

As far as beach/ sunbathing goes... In my oppinion, the best beach is Big LaLaguna... which is about a 5 minute walk from Asia divers. There is LaLaguna Beach club (another good operation) that is situated there.

Snorkeling? I must admit that I found snorkeling oppertunities a bit limited while there. The near shore/ shallow coral is in bad condition (at least where I explored). The nicer stuff is deeper and you'll need to be a good snorkeler to get to it (20 feet or more).

At least that's my take on it. Others might have different experience with it...

As far as other operators are concerned, I think you need to decide on what you are looking for. A big, accomodations included, resort (like Asia divers)? Or a small, more personalised operation? There are very good operators of both types over there! What do you prefer? You'll get a very different diving experience depending on what you choose...

Cheers!:coffee:

Asia is excellent as well as Atlantis and Big La Laguna which has a nice beach in front.
