Invite - Stone Crabs - Monday 15th

Mmmmmm Stone crab claws...

I've never dove for claws...
how productive are the 'rocks?
Assuming one's skills are not the issue, could we expect to 'limit' (1 gallon)?
Also, do they all get hammered in the first few days (like lobsters and scallops) or are there enough left for a few weekends of harvesting?

Honestly, I do not know how badly they get "hammered". This will be my first time crabbing at Anna Maria. I do know there are loads out there. Certainly enough for each to have dinner

We haven't been on our cruise yet. We leave on the 28th, I think. Can't wait. Maybe they will have a halloween costume party I'll let you know all about it when we come back.

I figure it would be difficult to figure out a gallon of displacement while still underwater.

Also - are there other decent areas for collecting Stone Crab (yeah, I know - every fisherman loves to tell where their hotspot is)? Even if not a 'normal' dive site, maybe certain shore areas or pilings?

Right now, they seem to be everywhere. There's the Skyway - careful though lots of entanglement hazards there. Any place where there are pilings would be good.
