Flat sheet isn't too bad. Places like sendcutsend will laser up to 1/2" aluminum, and it's not like you'd need tight tolerances on this stuff.. Bending is always more, but I think I'd rather not go weird custom until I get more time underwater and figure out what I really want.

This may not be a great option in the US with the current shipping situation and whatnot, but I can't recommend Heser highly enough. Quality that easily matches or beats Halcyon, and you get a variety of length, thickness and materials to choose from: Backplates und Zubehör

Could be worse. VAT + EU shipping is 5 euros off of no VAT + US ship. Probably comes in slightly under what anything I can get "locally".

The Diverite Transpac is a good recommendation or a backplate and wings.

Scubapro Hydros Pro and Aqualung Dimension both fit tall, slim long torsos well if you prefer a Back Inflate BCD over a BP/W. I’m a slightly shorter version of the OP, and both fit me well.

The Hydros is mostly rubber against your exposure suit so it is sticky and doesn’t move around.

The Dimension has a much lower hip belt where other BCDs have waist belts, but beware the “Sure Loss” weight pouches.

shame they stopped making the long version of it though, that is clutch for my Nomad XT. They also take a long time to dry and there is no weight savings compared to a normal backplate so that is something to consider for traveling

I’m now just hoping I fit a normal sized bpw so I can get a rental or a cheapy to try. I genuinely didn’t consider that a real option. My lds is aqualung affiliated, so I’ll probably be able to try a dimension, too

A Dimenson felt like I was towing a parachute compared to my backplate rig. The Axiom felt relatively streamlined though .... that would be my choice from the current AL lineup that I have tried.

I'm tall, standard plate, isn't it there for weight and to join all the straps to the tank which rests on your crack
