I have a couple Scubapro Air2 (3rd Gen) regulators that haven't been in the water for about 20 years. They look good on visual inspection, diaphragms seem intact which are black.

My question is... are parts and annual service kits still available for the 3rd Gen Air2's? What goes bad on them over time? They are fresh water Air2 mainly.

I'm not a DIY when it comes to life support but just wondering if the board knows if it's worth my time to taken them into my LDS? Looking at pairing them with Scubapro's newer Level or Classic BCDs. The two that we purchased in 1993 (Classic's) are toast and leaking.

Thank you again,

Jason

PS: If any admins are reading, I upgraded last week but haven't gone Red and am still swimming in ads. Thx!

I might be wrong, but with the exception of hard parts, I think gen2 and newer are still serviceable. Two/three are poorer performing than newer models. If you are really insistent on staying with that platform, I'd suggest newer models. Probably could pick up a lightly used one for a good price. Just figure in the cost (parts kit and labor) in total cost.

I recently had mine serviced at my LDS (along with other gear). I originally purchased it in 1991 :-)
OK, thank you I was thinking the design has stayed the same for several several years. Nice thing about that is it seems like they keep servicing them longer. They want about $320 for one of the newest air twos. Depending on what it cost to get this annual end, it just makes sense to keep it around until it doesn’t. Thx!

Hey Bob, thank you for the info. Totally makes sense what you’re saying and I’m totally considering it. I do like the air to platform although I’ve read on the forums that it’s not for everyone. Totally get both sides of the aisle.

Thanks again and have a great rest of the week!

Jason

I've got a 3rd and 5th gen both recently serviced. Probably selling them soon as I don't seem to have a use anymore.

Since i just saw it in the Scubapro Catalogue: At least the Repair Kit is still in the current 2025 issue. (21.085.045 AIR2 3/4 GENERATION)
So yeah, should be no problem.

No clue about other spare parts though, if anything not included in the kit is broken.

I just did a very brief check on parts availability. At least in Europe, all parts are available, not just the service kit.

If you enjoy them, I see no reason why to not bring them back to life.
Awesome! Thx!

I have a somewhat related question. Otherwise let me know if I need to start a new thread

I have an Air 2, 3G. I got it as part of an used SP BCD. The regulator cover doesn't seem to close tight enough. When I try to force it, it will get undone and pop out of the case.

All parts seem to fit correctly, the reg seals perfectly even with a loose cover, and I see no cracks in the case, nor in the cover threads. I was hoping to hear if this is "normal" for this reg., or if someone can identify either a wrong nylon washer or diaphragm in the pics (I am new on this site, so hopefully I am able to load the pics)

Thanks a lot,

DM
