Can the Mk11 Evo be converted into a Mk17 Evo 2? It almost looks on the photos like they share the same body and only the diaphragm retainer differs?
I bet yes… but sourcing the top clamp might be the blocker (probably would be the same one that sits on top of the mk19e or maybe even an old 17)
Someone with an mk11e of course has to remove the plastic trim to confirm it would even theoretically accept it 🤷🏽‍♀️

I’ve been thinking about ditching my cressi mc9 (tiny diaphragm, it’s my 1st reg, I keep it as a backup) in favor of an mk11 (to unify service parts); so if I find it on a good deal I’d be willing to experiment with it

Mine are packed away but even at that I’m not going to take them apart anytime soon.

When are you leaving for your trip to Thailand?

Can you share your opinion about the MK17 evo 2 ?
I assume that you already put it to test in Thailand :)
My opinion is that it’s the best first stage they have made to date, followed closely by the mk11 EVO, not that there is any real performance improvement that you can detect from a first stage but based on the compactness and great looks ;)
