First off, there is coffee and a coffee maker in every room. That with a Refer and microwave in every room, one trip should do it. But a bike ride into the Thirsty Cougar, should fix that need, unless you can mix your own and watch a spectacular sunset by the pool or your private balcony.

Quick last question. There is a pool right? I swear I've heard people say the pool is deep enough for the confined OW classes but the website doesn't mention (or I am blind).

Salt water pool (as in real salt water) that was big enough for my wife and daughter to do pool skills in for their ow referral. My boys had a grand time in it, too.

There is also a pretty interesting shore dive along the wall and there are scuba tanks available 24/7.

Thanks. I appreciate all the responses. I guess my personal catch is I am not looking to cook or grocery shop on vacation so lovely sounding places like the Villas are not ideal for me. That's kind of a bummer because the resort itself is what I am looking for.

There are resorts/hotels that aren't AI, but have restaurants and in some cases they are situated close to other restaurants. Or for instance, someone could stay at PalMar Condos and there are 4 very close restaurants where one could get breakfast, lunch and dinner if they wanted. El Cantil comes to mind too. Prepared food is very close.

In that same Pal Mar Condos area is Village Tan Kah, which is a very small place with a pool, has very convenient diving and is very convenient for food, but none of these places would have the the same vibe or feel as Villa Aldora. I've never stayed there, but the location has a lot going for it, it's got good amenities and is extremely convenient if you're diving with Aldora. It's far, far more tranquil north of the square.

Snacks and the like are one thing but convenient hot meals that you don't have to prepare is another. When I'm there I stay at a hotel with a restaurant and I make a trip to get snacks and drinks, but I don't stay AI.

Casa Mexicana does have a small pool. Casa Mexicana and and Villa Aldora are two very different experiences. CM is a big hotel in the middle of downtown. You are very close to lots of shops and restaurants. The Villa is a small hotel that is out of the way, is very quiet, and has lots of common space. It really depends on what you want.

Thanks all for the comments. I switched my reservation to Villas. Ironically, I am an avid cyclist so ~1 mile ride into town is almost a selling point. Plus I love a resort feel so I am excited.

Where is a good place for pastries/donuts/breakfast breads? I'll load up on the first day and have a great week

There are several small pastries shops on that side of town just a couple blocks up from Melgar. Ride the bike up and down the streets and you'll find lots of places.
