I'm shopping for new regs (almost convinced myself I need them!) and I've made up my mind I'm going to get the Zeagle Envoy deluxe.

I am wondering if I should go for yoke or, for only a few dollars more, DIN with a yoke adapter that way I'd cover all bases or if I decided later I wanted to convert to DIN.

I live in Brisbane and it seems 99% of tanks are yoke, the only DINs I've seen has been by request.

I know the regs are easliy converted (permanantly) but, is there any reason not to get DIN and use the adapter?

If you're going to be diving almost exclusively cylinders with yoke valves, get the yoke reg. The yoke adapters are a pain (they place the first stage too close to your head). I dive all DIN locally, but when I travel somewhere using only yoke valves, I just switch to a yoke fitting (I'm willing to use my adapter only if I was going to do one or two yoke dives, as switching back and forth between fittings probably isn't the greatest idea).

Don't all HP tanks use DIN fittings?

If you plan on hiring tanks check out the places you plan to hire from and how many DIN tanks they have.
If you plan to buy your own Go DIN.
Here in NZ DIN seems to be growing in favor over the last few years. Or maybe Im just diving with more switched on divers. :eyebrow:

Personally I see no reason to use yoke regs unless you have too.

Remember if its DIN its in, If its yoke its a joke. :rofl3:

from my experience most tanks you find are going to be yoke ... i personnaly have DIN ... but then again I own all my own tanks

I prefer din, and that's what my tanks are. If I was going to a location that was yoke only, I would just switch the reg to yoke (takes about 30 secs to switch them over) for the trip, and then switch back when I get home. Are you planning on acquiring your own tanks? Would you be buying din? You can get the din conversion and switch them as you please (or have your LDS do it).

Din or Dumb!!!!!!
Din regs are so superior that it isn't a "this or that". The safety factor, lack of o-ring problems is simply eliminated.
You will find din tanks are readily available from rental shops - If you ask! Owning your own (HP steel) is even better.
If you travel and feel the "need for security" carry an adapter.

DIN--100 times out of 100.

Thanks for your feedback everyone.

This is just the feedback I was looking for, Thanks Rainer.

Thanks Rick, at this stage I don't plan on buying my own tanks, I don't know whether I'd go DIN or yoke if I did either.

Maybe I should just get yoke at this stage and buy the conversion later if I decide to switch to DIN.
