Hm.... although I'm using S60, but my UW housing is with another camera. I checked the Canon housing for A640 is having a flash guide reaching the end of the lens....
I'm using another camera with a housing for which the flash guide goes a bit longer than the lens extension of the housing, and images taken has no shadow when I did macro or tele. so I think if the Canon housing is having this issue, you may extend the length of the flash guide....
BTW, the typical shadow happened before I put the flash guide on.
