We're planning a trip to Yap/Palau for Feb/March 2013. Is it worth planning the trip so we can be in Yap on Yap Day? One option would be to go to Yap for 4 nights and then to Palau for a week (probably stay at PPR). Does that sound like the right amount of time at each place? The other option would be to go to Palau first for 10 days and then have a week on Yap. Does that sound like too much time on Yap?

Now about Yap Day... Is it worth planning our trip so we can attend it? We like cultural celebrations, but wonder if this is a very interesting one? We don't like noise that goes late into the night (ie.e firecrackers, loud voices) and don't know if this is part of the festivities. We'll probably stay at the Manta Ray Resort. Would one hear the village noise from there, if there is noise?

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Hi, I wouldn't worry very much about noise on Yap day. Most of the activities are at a central location away from the hotels. The festivities are more culturally oriented and not much noise at all. Lots of dancing, political speeches, and food.

Due to the lousy air schedule there, your choice is really a 4 of 7 day stay. Ten days is too long for most.

Take a look at the $99 specials here:Guam & Micronesia Pacific Scuba Diving.

Hope this helps.
