We have narrowed down our Dec 2023 Palau trip to either the Black Pearl (8 day/7 night) full moon trip that advertised the spawning or the Palau Siren (11 day/10night) trip that might or might not catch the spawning. The full moon is 12/27, and it appears that a few days before the full moon is the best time to catch the spawning. The Palau Siren departs on 12/23, so our first day of diving would be on the 24th. They said that they usually like to do a few dives before they catch the spawning because of currents, so we might or might not see it. Is the spawning really worth it?

We liked the idea of a longer Liveaboard, but also liked the idea of the spawning on the Black Pearl trip. Additionally, are the sites varied enough to justify the longer Liveaboard? We are also considering spending a few days in Yap after this trip if that makes a difference on the Liveaboards.

I would appreciate any thoughts or opinions you might have! Thank you!

We chose BP from December 20 to December 27
We are considering YAP

Our dive shop has a spawning trip Jan 22-29, 2024 on the BP and we have 4 spots that we are selling $1250 off pp:) We had a family cancel last minute.
