This is a carry-on from my previous post on SB-2. Long story short, I've decided to get an Apeks set with XTX200 as the primary reg. I have an option of having XTX50 or XTX40 as octo. It'll cost me $100 more if bundled with XTX50.

Question: Is it worth the $100 to upgrade for a cracking resistance control?

PS. May I just add, if my buddy went OOA, I will be donating my primary XTX200 (which will have a 5 ft hose), and I'll be the one using the octo.

XTX 50..... this way, you can further de-tune the sensitivity to prevent freeflow..... also, might as well make it a 7ft while you're at it?

deepstops:
Your primary is on the 7' hose and the octo is on a necklace below your chin in my world :coffee:
I know 7 ft is the DIR way, but I have a short torso, 5 ft seems to wrap just alright around me, 7 ft is likely to dangle a bit....hey, maybe I should go for the middle.

What's the length of the octo hose?

I got the answer - 22" for octo and 24" for spg (thanks, ReefHound).

Apeks XTX40 comes with a venturi control, which can be closed off when not in use, and turn to the "plus" setting when you wanna get air from it, will that be sufficient for the purpose

I have the XTX200/XTX40 combo. The XTX40 flows a bit until it gets good and wet, but otherwise, it's been great.

I have the ATX50 for a octo with a double set up but on my single tanks reg ATX50 dst I have a Aqualung Legend octo (same as a ATX40) both work geat and would not change it. But I do like the ATX50 better

I use an ATX50 primary with a ATX40 backup.

The 40 is OK but if I did it all over again I would go with the 50 for the backup as well as I prefer having the adjustment on the cracking pressure.

I would take the 50. At least when you go doubles and get another 200 you can use the 50 on your stage. That is untill it is a 200 as well.
