So I got a chance to dive the MiFlex hoses tonight. As for my primary regulator, I don't really have anything to compare it to, as I don't have a hoseless second stage. (Yeah, just about *that* good.)

I also swapped out my pony's--

Oh, nuts. The cat just came inside with what appears to be a rodent that failed its Evasion and Escape course. One moment please...

...*muttering and gloves*... aw, *crap*, it's only *mostly* dead... (Yep, this here's real life intruding, go figure.) ...*more muttering*...

Okay, so as I was saying, I swapped out my pony's LP hose (a standard recreational short primary). With the original rubber hose, it was uncomfortable to left-sling the pony (as is my standard operating procedure), as the hose leaves the first stage going down (for proper hose stowage) and enters the second stage from the right (I use an AquaLung Titan). It's not exactly comfortable, and when I had a slung AL80, it was downright uncomfortable (I held the hose to lessen the strain). With the super-flexible MiFlex hose, it's a whole new ball game.

Anyway, with the new MiFlex hose, it was amazing. One of the instructors who was there saw my pony with the MiFlex hose and said he needs to get one to try out for his slung bottles. For slinging, I don't know that I'd ever want to dive with an old rubber hose again. I've never had too great a problem with my primary second stage's hose (perhaps because I have the tank mounted high enough to reach the valve, so there's less deflection), but for a slung pony, it's really all that.

"Johnny wants a pony, but Johnny's pony wants a MiFlex."

Just been speaking to Peter at MiFlex over here in the UK and he's confirmed a new colour - Mellow Yellow. This looks basically the same colour yellow as a traditional rubber octopus hose, and Aqualung will be using it with the Mikron octo (they are already using black MiFlex on the primary). Apparently, they didn't like the day-glo yellow octo hose, hence the new colour, so you'll have the choice of two yellows soon - day-glo or Mellow Yellow.

Fkostyun and Compudude, glad you have now discovered first-hand how flexible these hoses are, even when pressurised. They really do coil up tiny. See, you can believe what I am saying, even if I am from the demon dive press. I have been diving the arse off these hoses since they first hit the UK market, so have seen all the benefits they give you. Yep, not the cheapest, but they do work well.

Crap. I was hoping to change my hose colors with the seasons.

    Red/Pine Green/White for Christmas
    Orange/Brown for the Fall
Kelly Green for St. Patty's day
Sunshine Yellow, and Sky Blue for Summer

Well, I had a chance to dive the hoses tonight in the pool, and wow, I was amazed.

To give you all a small background, last week, I had some dental work done (two extractions, and one that took and hour and a half to remove) and in reality I should be no where near scuba equiptment, but, hey I gotta dive.

I was a little concerned about how things would feel, my previous hoses would "tug" a bit on my regulator / jaw and give me some "minor" discomfort, but, nothing major or to write home about.

For my setup, I purchased a 36" MiFlex hose in blue, and a 30" MiFlex hose also in blue for my Octo/Inflator, previously, the factory hose on my regulator (Cressi Ellipse Titanium) was about 29", and I found it to be a bit to short, and actually quite uncomfortable, especially when sharing air. Since I am currently working on my dive master certification, I am regulary working with open water students and having to pass my regulator.

Tonight, the lack of jaw fatigue was amazing, the hose is just so flexible, that I could have it positioned in a variety of ways, and still have it comfortable to breath with. I even found that with the 36" hose I was able to route the hose under (yes, that is under) my arm and still have the regulator fit comfortably in my mouth.

Betweek the combination of the new hoses and a SeaCure mouthpiece - I was comfortable - and spent about 2 and a half hours in the water. The MiFlex hoses just "give" a lot more and are no where near as stiff, and don't have the feeling that I had experienced prior with the hose "wanting to rip the reg out of my mouth"

First glance for this product is an A+, and I would definaltly reccommend them.

Paul, I could send you some MiFlex hoses and some of that nylon "chinese handcuff stuff" that goes over hoses. I think it comes in all of your favorite colors. Hey, problem solved!

I have had DOZENS and DOZENS of calls reporting exactly what you experienced. I haven't had a single call yet that complained about any aspect of the MiFlex hoses. My main worry now is....inventory!

Are 29, 30 or 36 inch hoses availible with 1/2" M threads? They would be perfect for the Apeks TX first stages my wife and I use. I know we could use reducers, but that is just one more possible failure point. I could also change the hose routing, but the routing is perfect for both of us the way thay are.
Could I special order hoses with the 1/2" threads?
    Thanks,
    DMdoogie

Unfortunately, there is no provision for special ordering these hoses. We may have some information about some added lengths and added colors in the next couple of months, but I honestly don't anticipate any with 1/2" fittings. Things being what they are, many manufacturers have abandoned this 1/2" fitting on newer regulator models and there simply isn't enough volume to import and inventory them. This is an imported item and specials cannot be ordered in small quantities. That being said, if you can find a MiFlex hose in the current inventory that fits your needs, it is certainly an upgrade. We have received NOT ONE COMPLAINT about these hoses. Far to the contrary, everyone seems to rave about them.

We just got another shipment of MiFlex hoses today, so we now have renewed inventory on all of the listed sizes.

I have to say, this must be the hit accessory product of the year. I can't remember any other product that gets this much action and this many positive reviews. Thanks to all of you who have purchased them, and to the others......what are you waiting for?

    Thanks again.
