Don't talk to anyone else but "Raul" (sp?) ....he knows all the deals and what's what. I had the same problem the first time around....

Just talk to Raul and he'll set you up...

CompuDude:
I'm getting pretty peeved with the staff over at Seaport Village, although I have been very polite and have yet to lose my cool with the reservation lady.

I left two messages last week, trying to book my room. Each call, as soon as I get to the reservation lady and mention that it's part of the group ScubaBoard package deal, she says I need to speak to the manager because she can't handle any group sales. The manager never seems to be in, and she has (thus far) refused to help me, saying she can't handle any group sales, only the manager can. She has offered to have him call me back, so I left my number twice last week, and have yet to receive a call.

I'm on hold now, because I'm getting the same line as last week, but apparently today is the manager's day off, so I was first told to call back tomorrow...

*sigh*

Update: She took my name and put me down for a room, but I still have to speak to the manager tomorrow to finalize things and get me on whatever ferry slots are still available. It's better than nothing, I suppose...

Sure. Now if I could only catch him in the office (or if he would return my messages), I'd be set!

Coincidentally...he always answers the phone when I call :D Good luck!

Wow! Don't plan any trips to Vegas!

Almost everytime I call Raul answers the phone. However, I do understand that if you don't speak with Raul that things can get a little confusing.

I believe that there are times when the phones ring to a call center on the mainland and that they don't always know about the various special packages that are available. This may be what some people experience.

I hope that you get everything straightened out and that it's just "good times" from that point forward!

Christian

I was just up at Seaport picking up a dive friend staying there from London and Raul was glued to the phone the whole time. I can see why he may be a bit "late" in responding to calls! He works pretty hard to support his triplet daughters.

It's all good. He was very nice on the phone. Just a miscommunication (twice, I guess) as to whether he was supposed to call me on the number I left or not... when the lady taking the message asked if she could have my number so he could call me back. (huh?) Probably the lady's fault, not his. I just had the bad luck to miss him every time I called.

But he called me today and took very good care of me. I wasn't actually worried about it at all until I read Christian's post about running low on rooms and perhaps not getting the price or deal I was supposed to, but everything worked out fine. :) I look forward to meeting everyone!

If everything goes right, and I get out of here on my leave on time, I may, if the wife does not have me otherwise occupied be able to drop by for a bit. Got to manage my time as I will have precious little of it before I have to head back to the party here. If I don't make it, I hope everyone has a terrific time diving and socializing.

I will not be making this trip. One of my bestest dive buddies Steve-O is finally being allowed back in the water for the first time since October and I'm staying here to make sure he gets nice and wet.

See ya' next time,
Kim

Mel!!! That would be astonishing and wonderful if you joined the fun at Catalina on Saturday!!! It's a big "day trip" to pull off in the middle of spending time with all the family and friends who must be overjoyed to have you here, (for even a short break in the action.)

Know that all your diving friends here think of you every day, and you'll be in our hearts on March 10th even if you can't be seeing our happy faces.

Every dive report goes out to you, my friend. You are missed.
