Oh ya - now I remember you Tevis.... You were the kid I was always sending to the principal for shooting spitwads! ;)

John, he still at it ... I think he's the one that got me in the back of the head twice when I wasn't looking ;)

Lol - he's a great addition to the Kelp Divers, isn't he Rick? :D It was cool to finally meet you and Brandon in person yesterday!

Hey Scott - love the new photoshopped Captain Marvel avatar! Too bad we were like ships crossing in the night. Would've loved to hear more about the new baby!

Oddly, I purchased the big 120 for beach dives. Figured I could get 2-3 dives in. The AL 80 is good for between 90 and 2 hours depending on depth, but that's mostly boat diving. Didn't take into the consideration just how out of shape I am now.
Actually, when I first took up diving I managed to tear a knee getting back onto a boat with an AL80 and a ton of weight on the belt during one of my final OW cert dives. That managed to send me into freediving for a good couple of years (much lighter on the equipment front). When I got back into scuba, I started off both for beach and boat using a steel 72. Then I bought a h.p. steel 80, then a 100. These days the 100 is pretty much my standard beach tank -- I can't remember any dives with it when gas has been the limiting factor (more often it's the no-deco time). I mainly got the 120 because most boats I go on can only pump to 3000 psi -- so I start off the day with a generous slug of nitrox, and for the later dives can get a reasonable fill in the tank.

But speaking of being out of shape -- that's been me since the holidays (a measly 3 dives since mid-December). Time to get working out ....

I posted in the "Mighty Lexy...hammina, hammina..." thread, but I'll post again here.

I just wanted to thank everybody for making me feel welcome at the Laguna Beach dive. It was great meeting you all, and I believe I have just expanded my circle of friends by about 200%.

If you have never been to a Wrinklez dive, you owe it to yourself to go. These fine people are hospitable and friendly, and I hope to see them all again next month at Catalina.

My thanks to Rick, Mark, and John for allowing me to tag along underwater and for sharing their considerable expertise with me.

Shout outs to Tevis, Christian, Ted the tech dude, Todd, Dave, and Rene (the jet fixers), AnneMarie, Anna, Jackie, Teresa, Riguerin, and the other dozen people whose names escape me at the moment. Thanks for your friendship!

Cheers,
Doug

What an excellent Wrinkles dive! I had a great time meeting new dive buddies and catching up with old ones :D ! The weather was great, the viz nice and the company fun!

Somehow Ana and I ended up leading our first dive at Divers Cove, with our great buddy TechAdmin... we were both proud that we made it back to the same beach without losing any of our group of 6... highlights of that dive were the viz, a giant bat ray, baby ray, halibut, big crab, lots of large bass, horn shark and ginormous sea stars...

The second dive was Picnic Beach, which Ana had done before but I had not. Don't know how we got elected to lead that one, but Riguerin was kind in his review :14: when the reef ran out, we did the back side, which ended up working out fine. Tevis was fun to dive with, did great with his shiny new Whites drysuit... Jackie must think we are nuts... Ted was fun to dive with... and Brandon was a trooper, did a great job and I was impressed.

I think we recruited some new ScubaBoard members from some other divers there that day, the more the merrier... Wrinkles dives keep getting bigger and better.

It was great to see all my jet fixing buddies, Todd, Dave, Renee and Ruben... also the San Diego contingent represented by Roy & GF, Sean and Terry (thanks for the great grilled dogs, Roy!). I also got to see Craig, Pasley and Ann Marie again :D and of course Jim & Myrna, Christian, Frank O... and others I am probably missing.

Wish I could have stayed for the afternoon dives and pizza... next time!

Oh yeah, and thanks to the gang for realizing that last piece of unclaimed equipment was mine, and not dismantling it and auctioning it off to the highest bidder! I appreciate it!

Riguerin (did we scuba in the SAME ocean?)

 Tevis, it was a pleasure meeting and diving with you. For future reference, Brandon said he'd be more than happy to point out all bugs for you next time ;)

WOW! What a great day of diving and awesome SoCal weather. It was nice to see some old friends and make some new ones. Looking forward to the next get together.

Special thanks to Ana for dragging me out, Christian for organizing these dives and keeping it going, and to Dave (snakedr) Rene and Ann Marie (Ann Marie) for being great buddies!

Actually we had already dismantled it and divided it up, but Anna and AnnMarie made us give it back! ;)

It was great seeing everyone again! I enjoyed meeting Tevis and Doug, and hope to see at future dives! It was also good to see Jennifer and Anna again, I hope we can dive together a little more often this yrear.

By the way, if anybody has come up with an extra hood from the Laguna Beach Wrinklez dive, I am missing one. :sad_2: Please contact me if you found it.

Cheers,
Doug
