Wrecks near Delray?

I'll be in town on the 31st, and would like to go diving, but would like to skip the drift dives this time (everytime I want to take a picture of something cool, it's going one way and I'm going another)

Are there any cool wrecks or reefs near Delray?

Anybody going diving on Friday?

I just ran across the wreck of the Castor on the web and it looks like a really cool wreck!

Yes? No? Maybe?

I haven't done the Castor but I've done the Cpt. Tony (M/V Becks) a couple of times. It's a really pretty wreck, lots of blue bell tunicates on the hull, a couple of big groupers that like to hang out. Barracuda like to school in bunches of 6-10 at the stern, facing up current. There is a nice penetration also, open and easy. Also, in one of the holds, you can look down and see the remains of a big barracuda...basically bones but it's kinda neat. I dive with Loggerhead out of Boynton, and you can ask Cpt. Jim to take you there, he's usually accomadating. I have pics of the Cpt. Tony on my blog (linke posted below). Enjoy!! Uh, you're on the edge of the gulf stream here, there's always some current. The reef diving is drift diving. I was on the Castor with Splashdown a couple of weeks ago and it's a great dive. Quite often they do a wreck (Capt. Tony or Castor) and a reef on an outing. Call and ask. I wish I had my boat going. We'd live on those wrecks while you were here. The local diving is fantastic. Enjoy!

I would call Splashdown as Don said,I dont see that they are doing a wreck on Friday but ask!
Look= Howarde on SB see his photos and some great video of a bat fish and other stuff, he dives them all the time and gets tons of photos as the drift is no big deal at all!

Any one know the name of the wreck south of Boynton like off shore you can see the boilers and well depends on how the sand is blown in out? its a swim from shore like 12FSW? we did it as a SI with Capt. Lynn one day

The INCHULVA is the wreck off Delray south of Boynton Inlet.
The LOFTHUS is off Manalapan north of Boynton Inlet.
Both are shallow and close to shore. You can read about them both in my book, Shipwrecks of the Sunshine State.

The Lofthus is the place where Lynn stops on here way back from Horseshoe. It's a pretty interesting place.
I'll try to make it out on Friday and give a little local support. The diving in BB is nice.

The Castor is very cool. Did that this past Sunday. The vis wasn't great (10 - 15 feet) and there was quite a current. I'd love to do it when the conditions are a little more ideal.
