Natasha,

"And I can catch and eat as many lobster as I want in those days?"

That depends on you skill in catching lobster. There may have been changes in the law (I have not yet checked), but last year the limit was 12/day/person outside the Keys and 6/day/person in the Keys. I'll have the info for this year long before our trip.

Lobster are found along the east coast, there's no reason to head for the Keys unless you really enjoy crowds.

I'll be diving off the Lady Go Diver on Sunday. I'll be sure to post a report.

You have to wonder why them Yankys dont like Grits.

This is the official acryonym for Grits. I know... cuz I have a cap that sez so!

Walter,

Don't kill me but I have another  - Do you recommend diving with gloves? If so, any particular type/thickness?

NetDoc,

Your posts crack me up. If I laugh any harder, people are gonna think I'm not really "working" at my computer.

Herman,

:buggy: Eye thank you very much. I am going to print your's and Walter's instructions out tonight and see if I can collect the supplies I need around my house. My dad's basement is like shopping at the Home Depot so it shouldn't be too hard.

I am really cracking up over these posts on grits, hominy and the such. I have to agree with Dee on it though her definition has my vote.

Now then SunshineFish no need to fear I won't be changing colors, by the way my Dad is a grad from UofM so I am a Cane fan too. Hard to pick sides in my family.

Thanks guys for the improved directions on the rattler. They are
really good.

I'm looking forward to what Walter has to say. In the meantime, I am a big fan of diving with gloves. Partially for the bit of thermal protection provided, plus in my local dive haunts, the underwater attractions are a bit rusty and deteriorated. So touching them with a bare hand could invite a trip to the ER for a tetnus shot.

And when you dive in blue water, there are other little things that you might grab (intentional or accidental) that could cause harm or a painful sting. I've seen stuff attached to the mooring lines that could cause a reaction on bare skin.

As far as which gloves, I got lucky and got both of mine from Walmart. This spring, look for the "water ski" gloves. These are 1 to 2 mil lightweight gloves that you should be able to get for about $10-15. This past November, I got some nice pre-molded 5-mil "hunting" neoprene gloves that have served me well in the 40-degree winter waters at my local quarry.

For me, the guantlet stile that has the velcroed band works great. The velcroed band helps reduce water transfer drastically and helps keep my hands warm.

So I give a big :thumb: to diving with gloves.

Sandy,

It's always a good idea to wear gloves when diving a wreck. They can bite. Any gloves (from garden to more expensive choices) that will stop a sting or cut is fine.

Mike,

Thermal protection should not be an issue in July.

True...

But when discussing gloves in general, it was worth mentioning.
