I switched to a BP/W (Halcyon Pioneer 36) and I must admit it is something incredible...

Using previous dive logs I got everything right from the start (read weights and weights placement) and the sensations underwater were simply stunning...

It was like I had nothing on my back, full control of what I was doing and no troubles at all in venting the wings...

With just 4/5 small bursts of air I was ready to go...

I must admit I was a little bit worried about the Halcyon metal inflator, weight placement, Halcyon inflator hose and no quick dump but after the 1st dive all my worries disappeared...

Thanks ScubaBoard (where I collected all the info about this rig), I knew nothing about BP/W and now I am a very happy diver...

Ciao Erik Il Rosso

Isnt it great , i dont think there is a better way to dive. Well actually , no there isnt.

Just one doubt, it seems to me that the over pressure valve is of no use, apparently it is located in the wrong part of the wing...

I know what you mean. Finally got my DSS BP/W wet today (only in the pool, though) and liked it. More tendency to be horizontal or at least easier to maintain that position even with a lot of weight on the weight belt. I didn't even find it hard to don on and off.

There are still things I need to fix with BP/W. If I take a liking to diving cold water, will need to get either the weight plates or tank weights. I also need to change LP inflator hose as it's too long (approx 26.5 inches long). Will probably be awhile before I get the trim right.

Ciao, Erik Il Rosso

How can an over pressure valve be in the wrong place?

The OPV appears at first to be placed in a sub-optial position, but when you think about how the wing wraps around the tank, its actually on the outside of the wing and easily used if you are in a horizontal position. It takes a bit of practice, but it makes all the difference with those horizontal accents.
