..not that i'm really that into baseball, but this was kind of kewl - a Red Sox world series ring was in our office this morning (presented to Lee County government as this is where Red Sox do their Spring Training)...i think about 250 of these were made....

Cool. I believe that the exact numbers for the rings were 50 big, $40,000 dollar rings for players, coaches, owners, etc. and 450 smaller rings worth a few thousand, for the rest of the organization.

Looks kinda cheesy.
As you can see, not a big sports fan myself. :D

it is cheesy, but hey - i supose its their way of screaming "look at me-i won something"

our football league here has started doing the same thing and i cant imagine a guy wearing one, seems a bit girly-man if ya know what i mean

I like the ring....but, I like the pay check behind the ring much more! :D That is a lot of money for diving.....

One of those came in the other day to our vet clinic here in Ohio. Guy was having his dog's cataracts removed. Crazy cool to seel tho. He was in some sort of management position and gave hats nad shirts to any students involved in the case. Very nice gentleman.

It is common for a team to give certain television people rings IF the team wins a championship. Normally it is the on air talent and the producer and director. Because of my job I have seen several NHL rings as well as the Red Sox rings. They are cool to look at but their weight and value makes them difficult to wear long term.

One night after a game, a slightly absent minded director just froze as he was getting his bag together after directing a hockey game. His NHL ring was NOT on his finger!!! An assistant director started going through a nearby garbage pail, I pulled a flashlight out and started checking the floor. The panic on his face was better then any actor you have seen. The contents of his bag was emptied and checked. Then someone asked him if he checked his coat pockets... Yep, in the outer coat pocket under his gloves. He was so embarrassed that he never checked his own coat.

I remember reading that the Sox management gave rings to all of the stadium employees too. I thought that was a pretty classy thing for an organization to do. Granted, they weren't the $20,000 rings the players received, but I think they still cost a couple of grand.
