Many instructors certify OW divers at the Comal, including at least one at the NAUI shop in Tyler mentioned by tank29, a few SSI instructors I've heard of, and several PADI instructors.

PADI also conducts some IDCs at the Comal.

another congratulations and welcome to ScubaBoard! It's always great to have another member and diver! Enjoy.

I might want to go on Sunday if it dosent rain, it's 35% and thunder storms. Congrats on the cert.

Just curious who certify's divers in the Comal?

Scuba Steve's in Tyler does in the winter months. I did my OW cert in a very cold month- January. I was really glad to have those 72 degree water temps, since the class that I was supposed to have certified with had to go to Lake Pirkey and the power plant was on shut-down- brrrrrrr, they were miserable. Steve was gracious enough to take me and two other students all the way to NB so we would be warmer.

The drift dive was a bit challenging, considering it was the first dives that weren't in a swimming pool, but fun. It was a fairly good test of bouyancy skills. I've gone back there several times, and always have good memories of my OW test when I'm there.

Yeah dealing with the current was a little tricky at first, considering we were all new divers, but once we got the hang of it, it was a lot of fun hanging out with the fish, leisurely swimming against the current!
