Most gators stay away from people. They aren't particularly aggressive. This one had probably been fed by the (sorry for this, but) stupid Northeners that moved to Sanibel. Gators aren't particulary smart either, they have a brain the size of a walnut. People feed gators and the gator thinks "food - human, food - human, food - human, human = food". Sorry that the lady was injured, though. Even more sorry for the gator.

I just saw on MSN that the lady died while in surgery today. Part of her arm was amputated but their description of the ladies other injuries did not sound life threatining.

what a tragic ending

During spring break a few years ago, a teenager ran out of a store after stealing a six pack of beer. As he ran out, two cops happened to see him and made chase. He ran into the mangroves at the side of the lagoon an promptly got his leg bitten off by a nesting Croc.

The Swedish have a saying, "some people god punishes right away."

My prayers are with the woman's family.

My condolences to the family. What a shame.
