Thanks for the info, everyone. If I am not supposed to notice any changes... I should definitely take it in. I'll check the high flow/low flow LP port issue first, though I don't think the ports used have changed since I bought the reg from Phil. (btw Phil, it's nice to be remembered!)

Lynne, where would you take a reg? I had my annual done at NWSD, but if I am suspicious that the reg wasn't optimized there... maybe I should go to Bubbles Below?

Matt, if Lynne cannot suggest some place you are comfortable with, just put them in the mail to me. I KNOW my technician can do the right thing. Only a couple of days each way in the mail. How you get this squared away. Thanks.

My own gear shows a clear difference.
SP MK 25 with an S550, and an R190 octo. Always breaths easy at any depth.
Oceanic (unknown) with an Alpha 7 secondary and bottom line Sherwood octo breaths ok always.

The 1980 vintage Voit Swimmaster breaths like a wet reg at the surface and worse going down.

I'd sure have that DR looked at again. Trust your gut (and your lungs).

The numerous Voit Swimaster regs that I have rebuilt/restored are as dry breathing as any of the modern regs that I have used. My guess is that the original neoprene exhaust valve has "curled" around the cicumference, and is allowing water to enter the second stage. What model do you have? It should be one of the following from that time period: MR12, MR12 II, or Polaris II.

Matt, although I love NWSD for everything else, I have my reg service done by Ray at Bubbles. He's incredibly meticulous, and I trust him implicitly. Unfortunately, we couldn't take the Zeagles there, because they don't work on them. We took them to Underwater Sports, and it took two trips back to get things right (they actually tuned them too well, and they bubbled constantly).

Phil, thanks. I know you can handle it. I'll try another local first, Lynne will steer me right. :)

Typo on my part. The reg breaths dry, but tougher breathing, like I'm sucking through a 'wet rag' at depth, compared to the MK25. IIRC it is a MR2 swimaster. Do you find them a bit heavier breathing than the newer regs?
