I have a few AL-80's (air filled). Any reason that I cannot store them in an unheated detached garage for the winter (likely to get down to 0 or perhaps minus 10 at some point)

I wouldn't recommend storing a tank where there's going to be massive temperature fluctuations, and most manufacturers warn against it. Also, leave air in the tank, as the pressure will keep undesirables (moisture, bugs, etc.) from getting in. Then when you're ready to use it again, empty it and refill with fresh air. Also, depending on how long you store it for, it may be worth the extra coin to have it inspected before you dive. The extra security is worth a few bucks...
On a side note, if you can store your other gear (regs, bcd, etc.) inside, it'd be much safer. I've seen all sorts of weird stuff come out of equipment that's been stored outside and not properly cleaned and tested before use...
