I am on the island now, but my favorite and go to store for wine, alchohol etc at bonaire gift shop has changed. where the room was filled with adult beverages is now filled with tourist items and a limited supply of wine. They directed me to their warehouse store off kaya parida across from bonaire food group which really isnt much better. Anyone know where to go get some good wine, baileys etc other than the Chinese stores?

Well, I think they are Korean, not Chinese, but if they have what you want, what is the problem? My go-to place right now is always Van Den Tweel, anyway. It is also worth trying the Antillian Wine Company, pretty much across the street from Warehouse, near Van Den Tweel.

LOL. They are Chinese. You don't have to take my word for it though. Feel free to ask them for yourself. Although English isn't their primary language they're really quite friendly.

There's been a significant Chinese population in the Caribbean since thousands of Chinese laborers were imported to the British Caribbean in the late 1800's to work sugar plantations. Many of those workers and their subsequent generations eventually migrated to the Trinidad, Suriname, and the Dutch Antilles. Bonaire's 2008 census counted 144 Chinese residents, the only notable population originating from beyond the western hemisphere beside the Dutch. (There were no North or South Koreans counted in that census.)

In recent years a new Chinese consulate was opened on Curacao and the Chinese residents of Bonaire formed the non-profit Chinese Association of Bonaire, which is similar to existing Chinese organizations on Aruba, Curacao and St. Martin.

We prefer to shop at the Chinese markets whenever possible because the businesses are locally owned and operated. Van den Tweel and Warehouse Bonaire are both owned and operated by Van den Tweel Group, a Dutch-based company with 1,000+ employees.

Thank you. The bonaire gift shop used to have the best prices. I do not have a problem with the Chinese markets as we shop them all the time, they are just a little pricier. Thank you for your input.
