Windy Point Park SCUBA divers,

I want to take a moment to thank the diving community for all of your kindness.

After nearly a year of operating the park in what was to be a 7 year lease, I have terminated the agreement. As much as I wanted to resurrect an iconic Austin landmark the deck was not in my favor to continue.

I was unable to provide open house events for the dive shops , instructors and vendors due to complications out of my control. This was a huge disappointment.

I will be closing the park for inventory and removal of appurtenances from September 23rd - 30th. I have not been informed if the park will reopen.

There is a survey at the bottom this email that I would appreciate divers taking. It is 5 multiple choice questions and it would be great to hear what was done right and what could have been done in the future.

I would like to thank the folks behind the scenes that helped out with everything from t-shirts, construction, repairs, website, online reservations and maintenance.

66Creative.com for all my t-shirts , cups, park signs, website, graphics, and IT support.

Cousin Mike for repairing every broken thing that could ever break and for building all the decks, miniature town, abodes and all the electrical, plumbing and endless runs to Home Depot.

Daniel for all his lawn care, tree trimming, and helping with removing clutter that had built up over the years.

Waew for her love of the park and donating so much time at the front desk and cleaning up years of bottle caps and glass. Waew carried the same vision in the park and is an amazing business partner.

Jay and Jennifer for their silent support and enthusiasm. It was an honor working with them to keep the Barstow family tradition alive.

Kristen for her hard work and devotion to the park. I could always count on her and she's in that top 1% of great workers. Her love for the park is inspirational and her childhood memories working at the park are the basis of the “parks personality”.

The Residents of Comanche Trail Neighborhood for their constant support and especially Patrick for being such a kind neighbor and his contribution to the Fourth of July celebration.

Don’t ever use Texas Chip Seal. Getting them to warrant their work is like getting bubbles to go down.

Mark at United Boat Docks for their prompt work and exceptional care in keeping the platforms footed. Just great people.

There has been some speculation that the land is going to be sold for development. Sad to see it go but Mansfield across the way is a pretty good dive.

I just learned a new word: Appurtenance. Thanks!
