Yes the vis was great in the morning- I could see the platforms from the surface. Something or someone happened later in the day- it looked like a fog rolled in some parts of the quarry, although there were still some spots that had marvelous vis and big fish.

Did anyone check out the fluffy algae? I always get a kick out of seeing it- when the water is clear, it is a bright, flourescent green color. Today, most of it was a camo brown, probably from being covered in silt and munge.

I saw the paddle fish today at the 20' platform that is on the "deep" side of the road. It's the one closest to the swim tube. I've also seen it above the deep hole, so I guess he gets around. There were originally 2 or 3 paddlefish, but I think that there is only 1 fish remaining.

I saw one feeding at Mermet Springs once- I was directly behind it and I could see through it's gills and out in front of its mouth. It's a good thing they don't have teeth.

I saw quite a bit of the green fluff floating....looks like a diseased cotton candy!

We will be there next weekend...if you guys are there...we should do a dive or two together. Saturday it will be in the afternoon, Sunday, in the morning.

Dean....I understand....lol we went to the Flamingo today...and that wasn't planned!

Steve took a great pic of the paddlefish today and showed it to Tina. She told him that there are several of them in the quarry. Apparently the Shedd donated some. I heard about only one remaining, but I guess there are more than that.

Dean and Do It Easy,

It was nice meeting you guys today. Hope your class went ok. We did a 45 minute dive, hit the swim through tube, Flamingo, the back to the wall by the road, around the around to the East, then over to the shallow side to the North wall, then the rock crusher and finally the platform by the road. It is weird going from 45 to 55 degree water and being happy to be 'warmer'.

Mlody, is your girlfriend tall and slender?

J

I just got back...
Actually take the opposite of those two and thats my GF. I was thinking there might be less people, otherwise I would have been more specific :p. I had a tank with the "absolute scuba" writing on it. Overall it was a great day of diving but the vis did go down toward the afternoon. We actually managed to record 61 degrees on the training platforms on the shallow end. I hope that wasnt the mysterious burst of warm water you feel in the wetsuit ;). Someone who was doing their instructor course asked for a fin strap and I feel bad I couldnt help him out, hope it wasnt one of you guys. Oh yea, if anyone finds a white slate with the words "If" and "feet hurt?" writting on it, its mine :11doh:

I also noticed that tina probably posted a pic I took on the wall. Its a picture of the paddle fish with its mouth open taken from the side. Is by the airfill station behind the case with "stuff" and right next to the garage door.

Dean, great diving with ya' today...yeah, working the manual funtions on the camera with 7mm gloves gets a bit tricky but this one was the best of the bunch

Steve,

Great picture... I've been diving Haigh for four years now and never seen one of those critters. I'm just going to have to try a little harder this year ;-)

Mlody, you guys were at the picnic table by the dressing rooms?

Dean/Easy, we'll be there again on Sunday if you guys want to get lost with us.

J

Yea, the picnic table between the dressing rooms and the covered house. We probably be coming out this saturday if anyone is up for it as well.
