Hi Everyone,
I agree with Jepuskar,
Pearl REALLY SUCKS!!! I like the Mermet springs idea, and the hotels down there are really cheap. The best options for dingin is a 15 min. ride to Paducha.
If this idea really materializes, maybe we could post the details in the Muck Diver's forum on here.
Anyone have any Memorial Day plans for diving yet?
Robb

You know, I want to go to Mermet Springs at some time, but for a local Meet & Greet, Mermet is further from Chicago than Gilboa by at least an hour. I would need another vacation day, and they might be getting a little scarce. Plus, the hotel room and it might be getting a little expensive for me this year. Spending more than I want to this year as it is.

The plan right now is to dive Mermet Memorial Day weekend Saturday and Sunday...and maybe Monday.

I was at Haigh today for two dives and have never seen the viz as good as today....I think it was over 40 feet just south of the road....the shallow side was atleast 20. If it would only stay like this, that would be serious hot action. Temp was 55 at 20ft and 45 at 60ft.

Sweet I'm headed there right now. Night dives anyone?

OK, I was at Haigh today and it was a beautiful day. I was expecting a larger crowd, but it was pretty quiet- I don't think that there was anyone of the south dock. There were a few classes there early in the morning. Strangely enough, I didn't see any doubles out there. I was incognito in my urban camouflage poodle jacket.

The water temps above the thermocline were comfortable- maybe low 50s? Below the thermocline was a little chilly, mid 40s? I'm not sure if the vis was the best I've seen it, but for this time of the year, it was great- 15'-30'.

Smoke if ya got 'em!

It definitely was, I have never seen quarry water so clear.

My GF and myself will be there tommarow :). If anyone is coming, we'll probably be layed out to the right of the walk in entrence (when facing it).

There should be a lot more people on Sunday as PADI is holding it's first IE of the season this weekend. The last count I heard was 19 instructor candidates. Even though practice for us at the quarry is over for the year (only doing real dives in the big lake), we're heading down to watch the circus. Should make for some entertaining video. :)
