A local online wholesaler has recently opened here in South Africa here. I still have an eight year old pair of almost featureless Technisub Idea3's, so I looked at replacing them. (I presume I can get much more efficient fins, though I'll be sure to try them first.)

I have some idea of the features aid the efficiency of a fin. The modern split fins always seem to get rave reviews, but, with that aim, I'm now confronted by a wild range in prices. At the top are Mares Volo Powers around €200 for the pair. Alternatively, there are Divetek V-Tek fins for €25 per pair. The Divetek Turbo Split Fins are €73. Sporasub fins, which look interesting, are around €100, but I can't find them in open heel variants (and I'm not diving in 10°C without booties). There are a handful of others, all falling in this huge range. Help!

On a related note, why does www.divetek.com redirect me to Inspiration Rebreather Fatalities?

Thanks,
JK

The mystery is revealing itself. I've learned that Divetek is a South African brand, and they're selling on behalf of Mares. Is there any reason not to buy Divetek gear? (I suppose only South Africans can really say...)
