Pineapples are cheap? I've found them to be more expensive than oranges, melons, bananas, etc

Since we're circulating anecdotal information , I've always found that in a fruit salad, the pineapple always goes first. I note this bc I'm usually trying to get more than my share of it, but not if I'm late to the game

Depends on where you are in the world...

Pineapple? What's wrong with people!

It's watermelon and fresh green coconuts or nothing. I specify how many watermelons I will need on the little dietary requirements box when booking a LOB.

Good dive shops should cater to the needs of their divers - a special shout out to Sky at South Sea Divers in Sabang who even got his wife to bring their blender from home so I was not deprived of my watermelon juice. This is a serious issue dive shops should make part of their annual dive budget. Dan Sasse at Posiedon in Thailand bought a blender for his boat...it's not that hard.

Re Pineapples - very true - one Ananas in Bora Bora was $11USD

Cheap, popular, easy.....

Pineapples are cheap?...
Cheaper than a box of individually wrapped crackers and tougher to stuff your pockets as you walk off the boat.

In my ongoing crusade to look as dumb as possible, I pose the next question. Every boat I've been on has given out pineapple slices during the surface interval. They also do crackers and other "Please stop throwing up" snacks for those that insist on feeding the fish. Do I just have knack for finding random boats that do pineapple, is it a tradition or some other reason?

Feel free to make fun of me now :)

Nope never heard of that in mexico or philippines or liveaboards

That's funny, because almost the only time I crave a Coke (or a Pepsi) is immediately after a dive. Anytime else, I usually prefer carbonated spring water or beer, depending on the situation.
I digress, but it is interesting that I only drink cola when eating--always (except breakfast, which I rarely eat). For just drinking I prefer a beer, or something else other than cola. In a restaurant I must stop eating until my cola refill arrives.

Man I wish I could be on a dive boat with pineapple. I've only ever been offered orange wedges and I hate oranges.

I usually see cookies, candy, orange wedges, etc.
Never pineapple yet. Probably just not diving in the right places!

Last boat I was on in Cozumel they tossed me a small bag of something that looked like gummy bears...a slice of pineapple would have been nice!
