Always thought bananas were the perfect diver food for sporty days. Tastes the same coming up as going down. :bounce:

What I've seen in Cozumel is melon, cantaloupe and papaya (yuck to the papaya). In the Keys it seemed to always be orange slices. I remember pineapple somewhere but don't remember where. I'm guessing it's all about ease and cost.

But pineapples have been used in carving a lot to represent "hospitality" - maybe those dive boats are just more hospitable! ;)

I'm honestly surprised this hasn't been posted on here yet. If you like pineapple but hate cutting them up then I highly suggest you get a Pineapple Corer Tool / Slicer.

I was introduced to this tool several years ago on a boat in North Carolina. By the end of the charter everyone on the boat had already made the $5.99 impulse Amazon Prime purchase before we got back to the dock.

As a result the charter boat I captain/crew on now serves fresh pineapple.

Why pineapple? Apparently it makes bodily fluids taste better, at least that what my girlfriend say.
