All good feedback. Options are a good thing and I am going to try them all out... I may have to adjust hose length once I find what works best for me... I think its also good to try different configurations out and see for oneself what works so again thanks for all the feedback. This is going to make Sautrday and Sunday fun diving days. I am always looking to learn new things, try different ways of routing things.

I run mine under my arm and clip at the hip. I've got hoseless AI so I don't need it much. I've also got magnetic QD hose clips. I can pull it off and only need to get it near to have it pop back attached in place. Very handy. My pony's 2nd stage hose (right shoulder) and LP air inflation hose (left shoulder) are QD magnetic as well. Holds everything tight against my body and when I need it they pop off and back on with no thought or struggle.

Use the one that feels right for you. Everyone is different.

I run mine under my arm, under the pony and clipped to the right top chest D-ring on a retractable. I just look down and can see it. I picked the right D-ring because I felt the left side had 'clutter' already with the inflator hose and now a pony.
The retractable is because the console also has my compass.
Of course I'm no where near DIR. :)

How is it possible to clip to right chest ring and not interfere with the long hose? I am having trouble visualizing this.

Also I doubt VERY much that The Chairman has his stuff dangling. After all he is a very accomplished diver.

Do what works best for you. I've had mine under the left arm and clipped to a D ring since I got a harness that actually had D rings. Before that it was under the arm and stuffed under the harness strap... still showed up in the same spot...easy for me yo read. It has worked for me for all the different types of diving that I have done. Try a couple of styles mentioned in this thread and find what you are most comfortable with.

Hmmm. I'm really suspect of anything pull-to-release. I'm so tired of seeing people unaware their SPG or Octo is just dragging along. How strong are the magnets? Will you notice if you snag on something and pull one away? Some of those neodymium magnets are really strong, but also brittle. Do other things get stuck on them, like a d-ring, bolt snap, or even your own steel tank? I guess most hardware is brass or austenitic stainless steel. Are steel tanks also austenitic?

IMHO, a SPG should never be dragging, and a magnetic QD could allow it to happen.

The Octo is another story, since many feel it is necessary to have it pull free for donating. I've seen octo clips and mouthpiece holders come loose all the time. This is one reason I like the idea of donating the primary, and having the backup regulator bungee'd around the neck (or dare I say, an Air2 or SS1 - no flames please).

Most of my rig is DIR ...most.. thinking about switching my SPG from me left hip D ring to under the left arm, and onto my left Chest D ring. There I could literally glance down and not even have to remove it to read it. I cant think of any Cons... please fire away..

I do the same...

I clip off to the chest D ring when hunting because I have a few things slipped off to my hip. It is nice to be able to just glance down to check pressure.
